Volume 8 Spain and Colonies. If you enjoy deciphering this country’s early issues, including differentiating printings and forgeries this mounted collection will be for you. Or, on the other hand, if you are looking for a good "seed" collection of Spanish issues, including back of the book, from 1852 to 1970, this will be an excellent staring point. The Queen Isabella II and King Alfonso XII issues have been collected for obvious shade or printing differences, with many selected for having attractive cancels. We noted a mint, Never Hinged set of the 1928 semi-postal issue (Scott US$110.00) and a page of civil war-era local issues. The colonies are present, but a bit thin, with some Morocco, Sahara, Guinea, Rio Muni. Although mostly non-colonial era, there is some good coverage of Philippines starting with Spanish and American era issues and then stronger from the 1930’s-70’s. Expect some mixed condition for this era of material, but undoubtedly an interesting grouping. About 1400 stamps, all mounted within a Scott International binder (with a bit of hinge and edge wear).
