Volume 6 Italy, Colonies and San Marino. Superior, value-laden mounted collection, strong from the classical era into the 1930’s. This collector had an eye for attractive stamp and was always looking for interesting variants, such as shades, cancels and printing oddities. A mix of 2000 mint and used stamps, with better items noted by pencil. Noted many $20.00 - $50.00 items or sets, with the occasional item up to $100.00 sitting inconspicuously. Good Fascist-era and post-war issues with some later coverage to the 1980’s. The "back of the book" is not to be overlooked, with better semi-postals (such as B35-37 used), airmails, postage dues and special deliveries. The "cherry on top" of the collection is the cinderellas, revenues and covers to be found throughout. There are a couple hundred Colonial issues, with be best being the showing from Somalia. There is a bit of "States" material from Sardinia and Roman States (these being the usual dubious issues). If you still need more Mediterranean Madness, there is a section of about 400 San Marino stamps of the same quality and quirkiness. A rare opportunity. Note: Some of the better sets from this collection are being sold individually, but there is still substantial "meat" on these bones. Estimate =
