Worldwide Collection

Volume 18 France and Colonies. A fabulous collection housed in a Scott International album with over 3,000 stamps. The collection starts strong in 19th century items including dozens of Ceres and Napolean III issues (mostly used but with a few mint) plus 20 domestic covers. The previous owner has identified many of the items with somewhat recent catalogue values of up to $100.00 each. We noted good representation of the Peace and Commerce up to the "Liberty and Peace" issues (used copy of #126 and #132). There is very complete coverage through the 1920’s-1930’s (noted a block of 6 of #262) with the regular issues well represented and strong until about 1983. The "back of the book" is equally well matched, with a good run of semi-postals from the 1930’s including a lightly Hinged copy of B34, and a cover with a set of B249-B254 (but with lots of other better in between). The Airmails include C17 used, C22 mint. The previous owner has included little gems throughout, such as gutter pairs, beautiful cancels, "Cinderellas", revenues and covers. But we aren’t done yet, as there are issues from Colonies (including post-independence), in which we noted a used copy of Cochin (China) #1 (catalogues $120.00), Algeria, and 1960’s issues from African colonies such as Burundi, Congo, Cameroon, Chad.
