Africa - Burundi, Guinea, Liberia. Trio of African countries known for producing thematic-rich issues in their post-colonial period. This Harris "Masterwork" binder is nearly filled with mint and used (cancelled to order) issues from the mid-1950’s to mid-1970’s. Many are complete sets, including airmail issues, with a souvenir sheet or mini-sheet popping up once in a while. Includes several better topicals including animal, insect, flowers, space, sports, birds, art etc. Hundreds of stamps here, with condition being overall quite good. Perfect for picking, reselling or building a new collecting area. Estimate = $150.00 $110.00
Algeria - Collection of Mostly Earlies. Collection of over 400 different mint Hinged and used 1924 to 1960s period stamps, all neatly organized and Hinged on small format quadrille album pages. Usefully comprehensive, loaded with complete sets, semi-postals, airmails, overprints and more. The perfect lot for the worldwide/French colonies collector looking for a good start to this former French North African colony. Estimate = $200.00 $55.00
Anguilla - Mint Never Hinged collection 1967-1979 all neatly arranged on Minkus album pages. A near complete run for this period, which has a wonderful array of topical interest that covers a wide range of topics including airplanes, scouts, art, ships, flowers, shells and "stamps on stamps" (to name a few). Owner’s older catalogue (year unknown) Scott US$477.40 = $644.50 $210.00
Australia #1/144. Almost all used collection of 186 stamps, 1913-1934 period GeoV issues. Useful mix of Kangaroos, George Heads and commemoratives. All neatly laid out, identified and valued on two Hagner brand stock sheets. Expect the odd small fault. 2024 Scott US$755.75 = $1,020.25 $70.00
Australia - Something for everyone in this accumulation. Do you like ‘Roos? There are a bunch of used examples up to the 2/-. How about KGV "Heads"? Yep, some of them too, including five mint "OS" overprints, including the 5d. Then for the next 60 years there is mint (often corner blocks) and used by the hundred. There is a binder with mostly 1990’s-2005 FDC, maxi-cards, mint presentation sets, postal stationery and a couple of covers. Between the "new issue" cost and the black stockpages, a lot of investment went into this group. Finally, there is also some dealer stock on "102" cards. Great fun and value here. Estimate = $180.00 $160.00
Bahamas #16/591a. Attractive, mostly mint, collection from QV to the end of 1985 on quadrilled pages in a burgundy covered "Frank Godden" album. The Victorian era is sparse and mostly used. There are some scattered singles of the "Queen’s Staircase" design, five nice "Seal of Bahamas" and a fresh mint Silver Jubilee set. The collection starts to take off with King George VI definitives to 5/-, and the first two "long" QEII definitive sets are mint to the pound and appear to be Never Hinged. From there to the end of the collection, there are very few stamps missing and some are supplemented by used examples. Very fresh, mostly Never Hinged. The catalogue value will add up quickly here. Estimate = $160.00 $230.00
Barbuda #12-20 plus others. Mint Sheet Folder containing over 100 mint Never Hinged sheets of 50 stamps, primarily the map illustrated series of 1968, with a smattering of Christmas sheets as well. Very clean Post Office stock, with over 5000 stamps in total. Even at the minimum Scott catalogue value, these would add up to quickly! Estimate = $120.00 $34.00
Belgium - Small holding of classic earlier on stock / album pages, paired with post-war (to about 1990) sheetlets, souvenir sheets and a few presentation cards. Lots of King Leopold issues, a forgery of #102 and a range of interesting (mostly used) earlier issues. Significant catalogue value here, but in need of a good sort! Estimate = $140.00 $50.00
Bermuda #22/48a. All Fine/Very Fine mint Lightly Hinged (some Never Hinged) selection of 18 different 1884-1924 period issues. Of particular note are the ¼p to 1sh GeoV "Caravel" issues including all the Scott Classic catalogue listed shades. All well organized on one Hagner stock sheet. 2024 Scott Classic US$250.20 = $337.75 $200.00
Bermuda #40-48a, 105-114, 81-93, 100-103, MR1-MR2 Plus Shades. All Fine/Very Fine used selection of 1910-1924 GeoV "Caravel" issues, plus the 1935 Silver Jubilee set of 4 and the later 1922-1934 "Caravel" issues . Of particular note are the wide range of "Caravel" shades and types, both Scott Classic catalogue listed and Stanley Gibbons listed varieties. Conservatively valued by Scott Classic only. The examples of the 1p carmine value have all been conservatively valued as the cheapest type (to avoid mis-identification). All well organized on two stock sheets. 2024 Scott Classic US$358.15 = $483.50 $210.00
Bermuda #81-93, 100-103, MR1-MR2 Plus Shades. All Fine/Very Fine mint Lightly Hinged (some Never Hinged) selection of 32 of the 1922-1934 GeoV "Caravel" issues, plus the 1935 Silver Jubilee set of 4. Of particular note are the wide range of "Caravel" shades and types, both Scott Classic catalogue listed and Stanley Gibbons listed varieties. Conservatively valued by Scott Classic only. The six examples of the 1p carmine value have all been conservatively valued as the cheapest type (to avoid mis-identification). All well organized on one Hagner stock sheet. 2024 Scott Classic US$382.85 = $516.85 $325.00
Bermuda #115/132 Plus Shades and Perfs. Superior quality all CDS used duplicated selection of 1937 to 1951 period GeoVI issues, beginning with the 1937 Coronation set and including a wide range of both perf 13 x 13 and perf 14 x 14 high value "Key Plates" in a useful range of shades. All the key plates have been sorted by perf only, then VERY conservatively valued as the most common shade in that particular perf gauge. Huge upside for the specialist using Stanley Gibbons or other more detailed references. Take a good look at the scans to appreciate the scope and quality of this group. 2024 Scott Classic US$849.65 = $1,147.05 $425.00
Bermuda #127 and Varieties Hoard. Clean group of 92 fiscally used GeoVI 12sh6p high value keyplates in a wide range of Scott and Stanley Gibbons listed shades and in both perf 13 x 13 and perf 14 x 14. Most have been cancelled with a single punch hole. As the least expensive type, the Scott catalogue for a postally used #127a is US$60.00 (x 92=US$5,520.00=$7,452.00 CDN @1.35). Here's your chance to get a useful research group of this popular issue at a fraction of the Scott or Stanley Gibbons catalogue value. On one page we've stacked several pairs of stamps to "plug" the holes and improve the appearance significantly. There's a very good chance that some of the scarcer printings are here. Maybe a "lemon yellow" or two? Estimate = $325.00 $160.00
Bermuda - Stanley Gibbons #116, 117, 118, 119, 120a. Five mint Hinged/Never Hinged 1938 "first printing" GeoVI high value "Keyplates", consisting of the 2sh, 2sh6p, 5sh, 10sh and 12sh6p values. All readily identifiable by the mottled brownish gum that Scott does not take into account. 2020 Stanley Gibbons £935.00 = $1,600.00 $475.00
British America - Bahamas, Bermuda, St. Lucia, Antigua, Barbuda and Turks and Caicos Islands. A range of collection fragments, single page auction lots or "102" cards (Bermuda) from dealer purchases were the sources for this interesting range of Caribbean material. A mix of mint and used, running from early Victorian issues up to the 1980’s. Significant catalogue value here. Start a collection, expand a collection, build circuit books, enhance your club auction. Lots of potential here, and well below the owner’s original purchase price at our estimated value. Estimate = $140.00 $80.00
British Caribbean Group - A useful selection of 128 used Victorian and Edwardian singles from Grenada, Barbados, British Guiana, Jamaica and Montserrat. Generally Fine + and lightly cancelled, though some earlier items are in the usual mixed condition. We noted a Grenada #2 and a Barbados #37. The owner has Scott numbers and valuations identified for each stamp. A good opportunity to fill in or upgrade your British West Indies. Owner's 2021 Scott US$1,220.00= $1,647.00 $150.00
British Commonwealth - 1949 UPU Omnibus Series. All mint Never Hinged nearly complete run of 302 stamps (missing only Pitcairn Islands, Burma, Egypt and Pakistan), consisting of complete sets of both the common design and non-common design British Commonwealth issues commemorating the 1949 Universal Postal Union 75th Anniversary. All neatly laid out on Hagner brand stock sheets. A classic 20th century series. 2024 Scott US$436.00= $588.60 $325.00
British Commonwealth - A British Pacific offering in a Lighthouse 3-ring binder (with matching slipcase) containing 70x Vario-brand stockpages (most 4-7 strips). All from the post-war era up to the early 1980’s, when these islands were developing their own design and topic styles. The condition is generally excellent, with lots of mint (mostly Never Hinged) and a bit of used. Includes overprints, revalues, souvenir sheets and a bit of back of the book, much of which was already identified by the previous owner. We noted Norfolk Island including #42, Nauru (with denominations to 5/-, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, Penrhyn, Cook Islands, Aitutaki, Niue, Samoa. Over 1500 stamps in total, with lots of sets and tropical topical interest (e.g. birds, fish, boats, planes). The album and pages alone would cost what we have estimated this lot at. Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
British Commonwealth - A bundle of a collector's purchases, compiled within a small box and containing Papua New Guinea, St. Vincent, Anguilla, Australia, North Borneo, Grenada, Barbados, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Guyana, Falklands, British Indian Ocean Territory, Fiji (including some partial sheets from the 1940’s) and lots of Malayan States. Just a disorganized mess of stockpages, dealer cards, auction lots (untouched as purchased), for which the owner likely paid over $1000.00 at least 20 years ago. More mint than used, but take a good look at the scans to get an idea of what this treasure trove entails. Estimate = $200.00 $220.00
British Commonwealth - A fun mess of small cards or sleeves with some better sets, singles and souvenir sheets. A wide range from classic Queen Victoria up to about 1990. No obvious theme, other than the stamps fall under the British Empire - didn’t see and GB, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, but there is Caribbean, Africa, and something from just about everywhere. A few are auction or bidboard lots (bought but never processed by the previous owner). This grouping likely cost the original owner over $1000.00. Perfect for the reseller or the worldwide collector. Estimate = $200.00 $170.00
British Commonwealth - A gaggle of full-page (sized) items from many corners of the Commonwealth. In order of appearance, there is some QEII St. Helena, a British Africa "remainder" collection (previous auction estimate $100.00), notable mint and used Sudan, British Caribbean, North Borneo, Tristan da Cunha, five mint 1948 Royal Wedding sets, Seychelles, Pitcairn Islands, Labuan (Fournier forgeries), Kiribati, Gilbert and Ellice Islands, a nice Bahrain grouping and some large mint blocks of Transvaal, Fiji, South Orkneys and Pitcairn Islands (Princess Di). Substantial value here. Estimate = $250.00 $325.00
British Commonwealth - Aitutaki #7/36 Niue #6/105 and Penrhyn Island #1/34. A New Zealand administration era group, mostly mint collection on an album page and other black stockpages. Most have been identified by the previous owner and include overprints on New Zealand QV to GeoV issues, as well as the first set or two of the "Captain Cook" common design issues. Most are fresher than usually seen, with a wide range of condition on the back. Most are Hinged (a couple may have no gum), and a couple show signs of some minor oxidation. The few used stamps and any odd duplicates were not counted in the catalogue value which includes.. Aitutaki ($121.65), Niue ($184.15) and Penrhyn Island ($203.65). Total 2023 Scott US$509.45 = $687.76 $120.00
British Commonwealth - Bankers box with a wide range of bits and pieces. For those who love a treasure hunt, there is a large plastic bag with bits and pieces of dealer stockcards, album remnants and retired circuit books covering QV to the 1980’s. Noted some better singles and sets here and even a bit of Elvis. If you like the King, there is a bunch more royalty issues here including 1953 Coronation, Princess Anne Royal Wedding, Silver Jubilee, Charles and Di, and the death of Princess Di in various formats, including in a 32-page Filex stockbook (cover a bit damaged) and a near new Commonwealth Day commemorative album from the early 1980’s. Keep what you want, sell the rest! Lots of value here. Estimate = $130.00 $160.00
British Commonwealth - Bountiful bundle of bits and bobs from a large collection. Mounted selections include Anguilla, Disney (from several colonies), Edward VII Great Britain (used), Bermuda and Kiribati (circa 1980) and Ireland. More classic material includes earlier Bahamas, Sierra Leone, used selection of 1935 Silver Jubilee and mint UPU sets with better sets, such as the first Falkland Island QEII birds definitives. To top it off there are a dozen St. Vincent "Automobile" progressive proofs, most in full panes (we can’t imagine the original cost on this…but it would be substantial). Estimate = $200.00 $70.00
British Commonwealth - Collection in Four Volumes. Mint and used general collections of British Colonial material. All Hinged on quadrille album pages and housed in four 3-ring binders. Noted material from British Africa, the South Pacific and Australasia, the West Indies and British America, Hong Kong, the South Atlantic, the Indian Ocean and more. While the collection is mainly a "sampler" type, there are thousands of different stamps here, Victorian through Elizabethan eras, so pleasant surprises in the form of better sets and singles can be expected. Estimate = $350.00 $140.00
British Commonwealth - Cook Islands #22/132, Samoa #114/154a, Penrhyn Island #1/27 and Niue #73/104. Three stockpages containing four British Pacific colonies under New Zealand Administration. An attractive mint group of singles and sets issued up to 1940. The Cook Islands is the best, with some nice Queen Makea Tatau and Torea (bird) issue, followed by KGV and representation of the Captain Cook to the Centennial issues (catalogues $384.70). The Samoan Material is all overprints on NZ stamps, from EdwardVII to GeoV, "Peace" and the 2/- Admiral plus the "hut" set up to 1/- (catalogues $159.45). The Penrhyn and Niue is of a similar era with catalogue values of $44.75. Most with very fresh appearance, the gum is lightly hinged to very heavily hinged (a couple may have no gum). Above average condition for stamps from this corner of the world. Total 2023 Scott US$588.90 = $795.02 $140.00
British Commonwealth - Copy paper box of two minds. The first is the remnants of a dealer stock, including several single colony collections, including Zanzibar, Turks and Caicos, Virgin Islands, etc. followed by manila stockcards and bundles of "102" cards with more modern, mostly mint sets and a large binder with an older collection showing "the sun not setting". The other half of the box is Omnibus issues, including a good collection of QEII Silver Jubilee issues, 1953 Coronation and the 1982 Commonwealth Day. While a bit disorganized, there should be lots of goodies hiding here. Estimate = $160.00 $350.00
British Commonwealth - GeoVI Mint Never Hinged Sampler. Sometimes heavily duplicated accumulation of GeoVI period issues from Burma, St. Vincent, Mauritius, Southern Rhodesia, Ceylon and KUT. No complete sets and not many stamps cataloguing over $5.00. See the hand-written inventory for full details. 2024 Scott US$1,178.40 = $1,579.00 $150.00
British Commonwealth - Small brown covered Lighthouse stockbook with 16 pages of intrigue. The first page is typical, in that it has some lower value used Bermuda, Gibraltar and Trinidad and Tobago, followed by four used Great Britain Seahorses. Subsequent pages have KUT, New Zealand, Bahamas, British Guiana, then returning to some interesting British issues from the QV period before going back to British America, Africa, Ceylon, India and Australia states. In the last four pages there is some better GB including 10 never hinged values from the "Jubilee" issue (Scott $372.50 as hinged), and some never hinged "Wildings". A neat little book of collector’s duplicates. Estimate = $150.00 $85.00
British Commonwealth - Three countries: Great Britain, Bahamas and Barbados collection/accumulation on 55 black Vario-brand pages (most 7 or 8 strips) in a nice blue Lighthouse 3-ring binder with matching slipcase. The stamps are more used than mint, with up to 20 of a each in places, issued between Victorian times up to about 1975. The best is the Great Britain, with some good-looking QV singles (and some revenues), 6 "Seahorses" and a nice run of mint QEII "Wildings" including graphite lines. The Bahamas and Barbados are attractive, and not often seen, but often missing more valuable stamps. Expect some faults in the earlier material, but lots of potential here (including postmarks). The album and pages alone retail for about $140.00! Estimate = $160.00 $110.00
Brunei #N7. Partial mint Never Hinged sheet issued under Japanese occupation. Although showing the "Village of Brunei" issue of 1930, this denomination was not regularly issued in the gray shade, and is only known with the Japanese Occupation overprint. Never hinged, with minor damage in the selvedge only. Gum shows some relatively even tropical aging, probably not unusual for an issue of this nature. 2023 Scott US$2,880.00 = $3,888.00 $180.00
Burma - GeoVI Mint Never Hinged Sampler. Sometimes heavily duplicated accumulation of mint Never Hinged GeoVI period issues from Burma. No complete sets, but some stamps cataloguing in the $5.00-$25.00 range. See the hand-written inventory for full details. 2024 Scott US$1,576.60 = $2,128.40 $180.00
Canada #2. Sound used example of the 1851 issue 6p Consort on vertically laid paper. Light and unobtrusive cancel. Margins at sides, just in at top and bottom. Still a fault-free Canadian Pence Issue classic. 2024 Scott US$1500.00 = $2,025.00 $325.00
Canada #14. Sound and Fine (but not quite fresh) mint no gum example of the 1859 issue 1c rose Victoria. A good start to a mint "First Cents" set. 2024 Scott US$750.00= $1,012.50 $42.00
canada #14. 4-Ring Numerals on "First Cents" Issues. Mixed condition (expect a few faults) used selection of fourteen 1859-1864 period decimal issues, all postmarked with 4-ring numeral cancels. While the quality of strikes varies, some decent and scarcer strikes were noted in the mix. Estimate = $200.00 $42.00
Canada #14, 14a Plus Extras Study Lot. Used group of twenty 1c Victorias from the 1859 "First Cents" issue, selected at random from an old-time hoard. Unchecked for shades, papers, perfs or plate varieties. Generally sound and Fine or better, but expect the odd small fault in a lot of this type. A great assemblage of these popular classics, perfect for the student of early Canadian issues. All valued as the basic (and least expensive) type by Scott catalogue. 2024 Scott US$1,800.00 = $2,430.00 $85.00
Canada #14/302. Clean, organized, identified and priced mint and used dealer stock on 142 different style #102 dealer cards. All regular issues (no "Back of the Book") ranging from 1859 "First Cents" up to the 1951 issue $1.00 "Fisheries". Loaded with conservatively valued (by owner using Unitrade catalogue) mint and used singles and sets. Noted Large and Small Queens, other Victorian era issues, Edwardian era including Tercentenaries, GeoV Admirals, Bluenoses, and comprehensive material up to the end of the reign of GeoVI. The total Unitrade catalogue value (as determined by the owner) is $9,375.25. Clearly catalogued and net priced on each sales card. Priced by owner to sell retail at = $3,799.50 $475.00
Canada #14/336a. All used 1859 to 1954 period collection of 658 stamps, all neatly Hinged on quadrille album pages. Highlights of the collection include complete sets of QV "Leafs", "Numerals", Edward VII definitives, GeoV "Scroll" and "Arch/Leaf" sets and an intact plate block of the $1.00 "Destroyer" as well as comprehensive representation of most other issues from this period. Lots of useful and pretty material in this lot! 2024 Scott US$2,948.20 = $3,980.10 $150.00
Canada #14-15 MULTIPLES. Three used pairs and one strip of three of the 1859 issue 1c rose Victoria and two used pairs of the 5c vermilion Beaver from the First Cents series. Some minor separation noted, sensibly Hinge re-enforced. A useful group for plating. 2024 Scott US$960.00 = $1,296.00 $55.00
Canada #14-15, 17-20. Sound and Fine basic used set of 1859-1864 "First Cents" issues. A respectable and decent starter set. Expect a small fault or two. 2024 Scott US$1,027.50 = $1,387.13 $130.00
Canada #15. Fresh and Fine mint no gum example of the 1859 issue 5c vermilion "Beaver". A decent quality example of this well-known "First Cents" classic. 2024 Scott US$800.00 = $1,080.00 $190.00
Canada #15 Study Lot. Mixed condition study lot of 32 used 1859 "First Cents" issue 5c vermilion "Beaver". While you can expect some faults, none of the stamps have been checked for shades, papers, perfs or plate varieties. Great range of postmarks including legible CDS. All valued as the basic Scott listed type. 2024 Scott US$1,200.00 = $1,620.00 $95.00
Canada #17 (x 6), 18 (x 4) Shades. Used group of 1859 "First Cents" issues consisting of the 10c "Consort" x 6 examples and the 12½c "Victoria" x 4 examples. Note a useful range of shades, perfs, papers and printings. All valued as the basic stamp by Scott catalogue. 2024 Scott1,650.00 = $2,227.50 $170.00
Canada #18. Mint full gum (minor adhesions) example of the 1859 "First Cents" issue 12 ½ c yellow green Victoria. A sound and very presentable Canadian Classic. 2024 Scott US$2000.00 = $2,700.00 $325.00
Canada #19. Mint OG (original gum) Hinge Remnant example of the 17c blue Cartier from the 1859 "First Cents" series. Centered to the lower right, otherwise sound and scarce! 2024 Scott US$3000.00 = $4,050.00 $425.00
Canada #21/1408. Mostly used (some mint in the more recent) collection of 1,438 stamps, 1868 to 1992 period issues. All housed in very neatly laid out black mounts on 3-ring quadrille pages. The lot is only valued for the first 341 stamps (#21/336), from 1868 up to 1952, with the more recent 1,097 stamps not valued. Lots of complete sets and Very Fine stamps in the mix! 2024 Scott (up to #336 only) US$3,950.45 = $5,333.10 $270.00
Canada #25. Mint no gum example of the 1868 issue 3c red Large Queen. Small perf fault at bottom but still a scarce stamp in mint condition. Valued as mint no gum. 2024 Scott US$1,900.00 = $2,565.00 $160.00
Canada #27c. Fine mint (traces of gum) example of the 1868 issue 6c dark brown Large Queen on thin paper. An early printing with crisp design details. Small perf fault at upper left noted for the record. Valued as mint no gum. 2024 Scott US$1,650.00 = $2,227.50 $120.00
Canada #28. Very Fine centered mint disturbed OG Hinge Remnant example of the 1868 issue 12½c blue Large Queen. Great colour, sharp impression. 2024 Scott US$1,750.00 = $2,025.00 $200.00
Canada #34/306, MR1-MR5. All Fine mint OG Hinged collection of 212 different 1870 to 1951 issue stamps, all laid out on two Hagner stock sheets. The group includes a nice sampler range of Small Queens, Jubilees, Leafs, Numerals, Xmas Maps, Edwards, Tercentenaries, Admirals and Scrolls plus more, including commemorative sets, coils and imperfs. While the odd small fault is to be expected, there are more than enough Fine stamps in the selection to satisfy the collector. This lot is the perfect mint Canadian starter collection for the collector who doesn't mind a bit of hinging. 2024 Scott US$4,494.50 = $6,067.60 $230.00
Canada #35, 37, 41 Used Hoard. Offered "as received" and unresearched, all used accumulation of 1c and 3c Small Queens, consisting of 413 x the 1c value and 767 x the 3c value. Note earlier and later printings of both stamps and a wide range of postmarks including Squared Circles, CDS, corks, duplexes, precancels, etc. Could be some decent finds here for the "flyspecker" or Small Queen student. All the stamps have been laid out on Hagner stock sheets to facilitate viewing. Estimate = $250.00 $425.00
Canada #35/2203. Used wholesale group of used Canada on about 300 manila stockpages, contained within FIFTEEN 3-ring binders. Commemoratives are up to about 20 copies each, definitives to about 100 (with a wide variation), includes some se-tenants. At a quick glance, the condition seems decent with individual items cataloguing $10.00 each found throughout (noted seven copies of the 10c EdwardVII). There is some QV, lots of Admirals and a decent showing of KGV-KGVI. The bulk is predominantly lower value QEII issues. Probably 18000 stamps here, so lots for the variety or postmark hunter. The only downside to this lot is that the collector went back and forth between assembling this chronologically or by denomination, so each binder is about 80-90% organized, with the odd issue thrown in that is out of place (e.g. the 1927 McDonald and 1c and 2c Quebec issues are thrown in before the 1974 Caricature issues). It is a solvable issue, but it makes it difficult to determine all that is here. Manila pages, if new, retail for over $300.00 alone. Estimate = $250.00 $290.00
Canada #35/494. A fine mint / used starter collection, collection builder or stock enhancer, with issues from Small Queens to 1970. Better singles throughout, such as 10c Small Queen, QV Leaf, QV numeral, 15c Jubilee, 50c EdwardVII. By the late 1920’s, more mint appears, including Admiral revalues (both types), Arch coils, Chateau, War and Peace and Fish dollars. Many of the Minkus pages have been doubled up, with mint on one side and used on the other, so there is a bit of duplication. The "Back of the Book" is well represented, with Airmail, Special Delivery, Postage Dues and Officials (including Ferry and Fish dollars with "G" overprints). The Elizabethan section is fairly complete, but presume the mint to be Hinged. The previous owner has catalogued the collection by Unitrade (as "fine", which many are better than that) at $2750.00. A bargain at the estimated value. Estimate = $350.00 $130.00

Faint as usual but it's what the Unitrade listed variety looks like (the Unitrade illustration is a stronger example than I've ever seen). This variety is as scarce as any of the other Cartier flaws. 2024 Unitrade = $350.00 $210.00

Canada #246/399. Disorganized mint plate block accumulation in an old chocolate box. Although how it is packaged might make it a bit hard to see what is here, but we noted 1939 Royal Visit, 1942-1943 GeoVI "War" issue (noted one corner with a cracked plate), 1946 "Peace", some GeoVI definitives, lots of QEII Karsh and Wildings and a good range of late 1940’s-1950’s commemoratives. The condition is generally very fresh, and there are MANY Never Hinged items here. Individually sorted into glassines (sometimes as a single, sometimes as a matched set, sometimes as multiple from the same or multiple plates). The box looks like it took a spill at some point, so your sorting skills will be required. A rough glance indicates that there are some individual items with catalogue values up to $50.00 in Unitrade. A few hundred plate blocks in total (and the odd "field stock" blocks in here, for the record). Estimate = $200.00 $240.00
Canada #249/305. GeoVI definitive plate block assortment stuffed into six stockpages. A bit of "War" issue up to the 8c, including a 4c carmine Plate 31 (cracked plate), with most being single corners. The "Postes-Postage" set is a fairly comprehensive group of matched sets. The "revised" issue has a smaller offering, not surprising as there were fewer plates for this issue. Overall condition is excellent, more Never Hinged than Hinged and only a few with markings in the margins. Centering is above average overall, with only a couple of minor faults noted. 139 Canada #454/544. Eye-catching offering of 14 QEII Centennial definitive issues, each with a perforation error / variety. A collector's choice offering, including several major shifts, with both mint and used noted. While Unitrade as started to value these varieties based on the extent of the shift, these are seldom seen and consistently sought out by collectors. 140 Canada #459 FORGERIES. Ten examples of the 6c orange QEII Centennial issue FORGERIES, all with florescent orange ink and roughly perf 12.5, with a variety of stamp sizes. 144 Canada #469/581. QEII 1967 to 1976 period lot including commemorative, Christmas, Winnipeg and Ottawa Tagged stamps. 146 Canada #544x Variety. VF mint NH complete booklet (BK70c) containing an example of the 8c slate "Library of Parliament" Centennial definitive, from the fourth row of the booklet pane of 18 from Unitrade short printed at right. Unitrade describes the error as "part of design missing from right margin 8c stamp in 4th row". Only about 100 examples of this eye-catching error are known. Less common than the catalogue value would indicate. 2024 Unitrade = $250.00 $230.00
Canada #572ii. Two mint Never Hinged examples of the 1974 issue 8c Pacific Coast Indians commemorative "missing bird on totem" variety, both se-tenant (one horizontally, one vertically) with a #573. These two stamps offer good illustrations of the "progressive" aspect of the popular Unitrade listed "missing bird" error, as one is 80% missing, the other 100% missing! 2024 Unitrade = $400.00 $80.00
Canada #586/1862. Last quarter of the 20th century holding of used stamps in a very useful group of 10 stockbooks. Nicely organized and identified, not overloaded, with a few covers and parcel pieces scattered throughout. Noted some nice se-tenants, a few multiples and a number of BC hand cancels (including many BC Sub Post Offices for the postmark hound). The stockbooks themselves contribute significantly to the value of this lot. One is a Lighthouse brand, the balance are Uni-Safe, most with white pages, in a range of cover colours. Five of the stockbooks are 16-page, the other five are 32-page or larger. Most of the stockbooks are in excellent condition. Estimate = $200.00 $90.00
Canada #604/2139. Clean and valuable exceptionally well organized and identified nicely balanced stock of many thousands of 1970s to 2000s period issues, all housed in three very fat and three smaller format stock books. The face value alone of the useable mint stamps is well over $700.00 and the used material is clean, attractive and very well balanced. Well worth the estimate. Estimate = $750.00 $400.00
Canada #791/1362. An all-different group of 30 mint Never Hinged matched sets (all four corners) inscription blocks of 1982-1998 definitive issues including QEII, Parliament and Flag issues. This was an interesting time in Canadian definitive history, with changes in printers, papers and plate variety. While most of these issues do not have huge premiums in the catalogue, finding them can be a challenge! Included is the inventory list which outlines each issue in this period of "similar but different" issues. All still in the original Post Office plastic packaging, but we noted three had been opened (but still complete). Total face value alone is $181.76. 2024 Unitrade = $646.00 $240.00
Canada #917-922, 927-933, 1080-1083. Complete basic run of ALL the 1982-1987 low-value / medium-value Heritage Artifacts Definitive stamps in matched set (all four corners) inscription blocks, VF mint Never Hinged in the original Post Office packaging. A choice offering of these sometime elusive issues. 2024 Unitrade = $347.50 $110.00
Canada #937, 937i, 937ii. Group of VF mint NH inscription blocks of the 1983-1985 issue $5.00 Point Pelee high value pictorial definitive. This lot consists of a matched set of Plate #1 (still in Post Office sealed pack), a UL corner inscription block of Plate #2 and LL / UR inscription blocks of Plate #3 (the key-printing). This group covers all three different plates, each on a different paper stock (Abitibi-Price, Clark, Harrison). The key plate #3 in particular is becoming extremely hard to find. Total face value is $140.00 but worth more. 2024 Unitrade = $505.00 $140.00
Canada #1084, 1084a, 1183, 1183i. VF mint Never Hinged inscription blocks of the different printings of the $5.00 La Mauricie National Park and $5.00 Bonsecours Market. These issues were each issued by two different printers (British American Bank Note Co. & Canada Bank Note Co.) and can be identified by the inscriptions in the selvedge. Face value alone is $80.00, but worth much more. 2024 Unitrade = $285.00 $75.00
Canada #1155-1161, 1170-1180. VF mint Never Hinged complete run of matched inscription blocks (all four corners) for each of the regular issue 1988-1990 Mammal definitive low / medium value stamps. In addition to this complete run of regular issues is a complete run of the "coated papers" of the low-value defintives (1155ii, 1156i, 1160ii and 1161ii). An incredible run to get at once, tough to piece together in philatelic after-market! All still sealed in Canada Post "matched set" packaging. 2024 Unitrade = $579.00 $190.00
Canada #1181, 1181ii, 1182, 1182ii, 1183, 1183i. VF mint Never Hinged upper-left inscription blocks of the $1.00 Runnymede Library, $2.00 McAdam Railway Station and $5.00 Bonsecours Market from the 1989 / 1990 "Architecture" high-value definitive series, with an example of BOTH the B.A Banknote and Canadian Bank Note printings. Much tougher to find than the catalogue would indicate. 2024 Unitrade = $235.00 $65.00

All blocks are still sealed in the original "matched set" Canada Post packaging, leaving them as "Post Office fresh" as they can come. A very difficult group to assemble, especially now 34 years after issue. Face value alone is $256.00. 2024 Unitrade = $940.00 $290.00
Canada #1182 Plate Block FDC. HOARD of 50 Canada Post cachet First Day Covers, each with a corner / inscription block of the $2.00 McAdam Railway Station high-value from the 1989 "Architecture" issue. While Unitrade does not value plate block FDC, the Chung/Narbonne FDC catalogue lists these at $14.35 each ($717.50 total). Sadly, not a matched set in the lot, but interesting to think that this "investment" group has $400.00 of face value alone (the Post Office sold these for a premium over the face value). Estimate = $120.00 $28.00
Canada #1203/1635. Mint Never Hinged "Masterpieces of Canadian Art" series complete "field stock" sheets (without the philatelic inscriptions). A duplicated selection, from the 1988-1997 period. One of the most popular issues of each year due to the large format, "shiny" printing and Canadian Art imagery. There are 16 sheets in total, perfect to keep what you need and use / sell the remainder. These "field stock" sheets are arguably tougher to find than the "philatelic stock" as they needed to be sourced from the Post Office rather than ordered through the Philatelic Centre (and delivered to your door). Face value alone is $183.68. 2024 Unitrade = $480.00 $130.00
Canada #1203/1635. Mint Never Hinged "Masterpieces of Canadian Art" series. Group of 10 different complete sheets of philatelic stock (full inscription selvedge) of the 1988-1997 (inclusive) stamps. One of the tougher to find issues from their period, due to the higher face value. Face value alone is $110.72. 2024 Unitrade = $353.00 $220.00
Canada #1250ii. Upper left position VF mint NH inscription block of four of the 1989 issue 38c Regiments commemorative. Most inscription blocks were withdrawn due to problematic and incredibly poor printing quality. Only one inscription block was allowed per customer and only through mail order from the National Philatelic Centre. 2024 Unitrade = $250.00 $42.00
Canada #1349-1355 plus subtypes. VF mint Never Hinged COMPLETE run of matched inscription blocks (all four corners) for EVERY printing possible of the 1992-1998 Edible Berries low-value definitive issue. A near impossible group to try and piece together, with many of these issues having 4 printings, with 3 different printers and a variety of papers (included coated). While none of these subtypes (all listed in Unitrade) catalogue very high, putting together a complete set can be an elusive task! All still in the original Canada Post "matched set" sealed packaging. 2024 Unitrade = $173.00 $100.00
Canada #1363-1374 plus subtypes. VF mint Never Hinged COMPLETE run of the matched inscription blocks (all four corners) for EVERY possible printing / paper variety of the 1991-1996 Fruit Tree mid-value definitive series. As with the previous lot, this run is near impossible to obtain if trying to piece it together, with printings by both Ashton Potter and Canadian Bank Note. Unlike the previous lot, many of the subtypes (all Unitrade listed) carry a significant premium over the regular issue. All still in the original Canada Post "matched set" sealed packaging. 2024 Unitrade = $1,005.00 $425.00
Canada #1375, 1375b, 1376, 1376c. VF mint Never Hinged complete matched sets of inscription blocks (all four corners) for both Plate #1 (Leigh-Mardon Pty, Limited) and Plate #2 (Canadian Bank Note) printed $1.00 Yorkton SK Court House and $2.00 Truro NS Provincial Normal School. 166 Canada #1630ai. Unopened Post Office pack, containing 50 examples of the 1996 Lunar New Years souvenir sheet with the "Hong Kong 97" logo printed on the bottom right corner. These souvenir sheets were specially printed for sale at the 1997 International Stamp Show held in Hong Kong. As this pack is still sealed, it is unchecked for the #1630ci missing gold variety. 2024 Unitrade = $500.00 $65.00
Canada #1631-1634i, 1770-1773i, 1886-1889i. Birds of Canada – Uncut Press Sheet Trio. Three different "Birds of Canada" uncut press sheets from 1997, 1999 and 2001 (with the 1999 version being the "signed" example). These are among the most difficult to find of uncut press sheets, with both low-production numbers and high-original purchase price. The face value alone of the stamps within the these sheets is $165.60. 2024 Unitrade = $525.00 $110.00
Canada #1687, 1687iv, 1690, 1690i. VF mint Never Hinged upper-left corner blocks and complete panes of the 1998 Wildlife $1.00 Loon and $2.00 Polar Bear, plus the matching upper-left corner blocks and complete panes of the 2003 "Coated (TRC)" paper versions of the same issues. A seldom seen matched set of these printings, which came out 5 years apart. Face value alone is $120.00 on these high-values. 2024 Unitrade = $300.00 $200.00
Canada #1687/2405. VF mint Never Hinged selection of 1998-2004 Wildlife issue high-values, from the $1.00 Loon to $10.00 Whale in inscription blocks / panes / sheets. A mildly duplicated selection, but of all choice high-value Canadian issues from this popular series. Unchecked for reprints / paper types. The total face / postage value alone is $240.00. 2024 Unitrade = $565.00 $260.00
Canada #1754/1945. Mint Never Hinged matched-set (all four corners) inscription blocks of the 1998-2002 (inclusive) "Masterpieces of Canadian Art" series. A tougher to assemble group, with the higher-face values which many collectors shied away from at the time of issue. All still sealed in the original Post Office packaging. Face value alone is $81.60, but worth much more. 2024 Unitrade = $206.00 $95.00
Canada #1764b. VF MNH lower sheet margin example (proving beyond a doubt that it is the "sheet form" variety and not a reperforated booklet stamp) of the 1998 issue 45c Xmas Angel in the very rare perf 13.1 x 13.6. Fewer than 500 mint examples of #1764b are known. 2024 Unitrade = $400.00 $95.00
Canada #1812i, 1813i, 1814i. The 1999/2000 Millennium Collection (Unitrade catalogue Thematic Collection #89). VF condition carton load of 45 examples of the popular "sleeper" Official Millennium Keepsake Collection issued by Canada Post for the 1999/2000 Millennium. The flat tin, embossed with a dove in flight, contains a trio of single stamp panes #1812i, 1813i and 1814i (46c, 55c and 95c values) which were only available in the tin, a pre-paid worldwide post card and a quarter-sized token. Overlooked by most collectors who bought the heavily promoted coffee table souvenir book and the more readily available stamp panes of four. Each "keepsake" collection catalogues $22.50 in Unitrade. Face value alone is $88.20 (not including the prepaid postcards). A great investment/dealer lot. Total 2024 Unitrade = $1,012.50 $75.00
Canada #1812ii. The 2000 "Millennium Dove" hologram uncut press sheet. Signed by André Ouellet, the Chairman of Canada Post at the time of issue. Very popular, despite the enormous purchase price of $79.95 (in comparison to other uncut press sheets at the time). 2024 Unitrade = $130.00 $38.00

A "new to market" find, clipped from official mail in an office during 1951 and stowed away ever since (originally received in an old paper bag, which we have replaced with a small box to preserve them). Unchecked as far as we know, so this should prove enjoyable to sort for both position of the perfin / overprint as well as postmarks (noted many smaller communities). Estimate = $150.00 $80.00

The collection includes 800 stamps, including some Back of the Book material. The collection becomes more comprehensive beginning in the mid-1930s and approaches completion from the 1950s up. Owner's 2022 Unitrade = $3,380.00 $120.00
Canada #847/1672. Volume 2 of Canada collection housed on Minkus album pages in a blue Lighthouse 3-ring binder with slipcase in nearly new condition. The album pages, with stamps, run from 1980 to 1998. Collection is all mint and almost all Never Hinged. The collection includes 920 stamps, some BOB and is mostly complete for the period. Notable items include 4 copies of BK111A, three different "chewing gum" booklets, stitched and stapled GeoVI and Beaver booklets, a couple of "Gift Folders", some decent Centennials (unchecked for papers). In addition to the complete booklets, there are a few GeoVI panes and a selection of Cameo and Christmas "cello-paks" (some singles, some open packs). If that isn’t enough, there are duplicates plus some others not individually listed here with a face value of about $70.00. Take a good look at the scans to see all this lot entails. 209 Canada - All NHL Thematic Collections #93, 100, 110 and Frameable Prints #6e/19f. Just in time for the NHL Playoffs, you can acquire a very difficult to assemble group of three Canada Post produced and Unitrade listed NHL "All-Stars Stamp Cards" (#93, 100 & 110) plus seven different "Frameable Prints" (#6e, 6f- 2001 Denis Potvin and Syl Apps; #10c, 10e, 10f - 2002 Red Kellly, Glen Hall and Phil Esposito; #14e -2003 Stan Makita; and #19f 2005 John Bucyk). None of these products were issued in any significant quantities and even though the Unitrade catalogue values are not particularly high on any individual item, they are in reality very hard to find. Estimate = $225.00 $160.00
Canada - An assortment of material that is strongest in the "back of the book" accumulation. Noted three sheets of the 1c War overprinted OHMS (ripe for study of the different overprint spacing, of which we noticed a few), there is some mint and used special delivery airmail, special delivery and postage dues, BC law stamps, page of used Newfoundland and mint Nova Scotia. From the front of the book are wholesale quantities of used stamps mostly 1920’s-1930’s. There are a couple of presentation folders and a book with a number of mint 50c booklets issued between 1973-1987. Fun and value throughout. Estimate = $160.00 $70.00
Canada - Annual Collections for 1974 & 1975. The two scarcest Canada Post Annual Collections, from the years 1974 and 1975. Very nice quality duo of the key early 8½ x 11 Post Office Yearbooks. Both complete with MNH stamps arranged in mounts and BOTH come with the original Canada Post envelope. The 1974 year set is the "punched" version, having received the 3-hole punch (as listed in Unitrade). In addition, this lot also includes the 1974 issued "1972-1974 Definitives" booklet (Thematic Collection #7), still in original envelope. Getting these is increasingly tougher, especially in as nice of shape as these two are. 2024 Unitrade = $357.50 $70.00
Canada - Annual Collections for 1976 to 1999. VF condition Annual Collections covering the years inclusively 1976 through 1999. These Canada Post publications contain the mint Never Hinged stamps, souvenir sheets and booklets for these 12 years plus an additional volume containing Millennium commemoratives in page-format which was unavailable elsewhere. A high-quality group of these impressive and informative publications. Total face value of the mint NH stamps, panes and souvenir sheets in the 13 volumes is $592.88. 2024 Unitrade = $1,564.00 $375.00
Canada - Balance of a consignment bankers box. Includes a pair of binders with a very cleanly laid out stock of used spanning most of the 20th century, all on black stockpages (which has substantial value themselves). There is an "investment grade" collection of 800 different used stamps in a nice small sized Lighthouse stockbook (the previous owner paid $200.00 for this group alone). There is some loose material, including album pages and old dealer’s glassines (noted a 15c Jubilee), postmarks and "back of the book". For the record, there is a final binder that has a used stock which needs rescuing, and wasn't included in our estimated value. Estimate = $160.00 $55.00
Canada - Booklet Stock. Clean selection of booklets covering the period from 1933 (GeoV Medallion issue) to 1985 (QEII Canadian Forts issue). There are 183 booklets in total with no duplication by Unitrade catalogue, including English, French and Bilingual versions and many with all 10 different cover designs, both Fine and Very Fine panes are noted. All catalogued as basic Fine condition with no premium used for valuation. Owner's 2022 Unitrade = $3,054.00 $350.00
Canada - Carton of Canadian Chaos! Bits and bobs of a large collection, the best being about $200.00 in face value, ranging from a couple of packed glassines with 5c to a group of about 30x Titanic souvenir sheets. There are also some year cards/sets from the 1960’s-1980’s, a bit of wholesale used stock of "back of the book" sorted in envelopes and various other pages and books that were picked up along the way. Estimate = $200.00 $210.00
Canada - Chaotic carton of Canadian collections, dealer cards, stockcards, retired circuit books and "odds and ends". Includes some classic material, like a block of 8 of the 20c EdwardVII on piece (1 stamp is damaged), some mid-century mint and a big baggie of used blocks. There is a good range of "back of the book", including officials. We noted that a couple of the batches are specifically selected for their cancels. A great group in need of sorting. Estimate = $160.00 $70.00
Canada - Classics: Faulty, Forged and Fantasy. Interesting final balance from a large Classic collection consisting of a diverse selection of Pence and Cents related items. In the lot we noted a faulty genuine #4, then a brace of forged Pence (#2, #7 SPECIMEN, #9 SPECIMEN block) and Cents (#17 imperforate, #18 imperforate). A great group for your "curiosities" page. Estimate = $150.00 $190.00
Canada #14/601. Massive Mint and Used Stock in Two Stock Books. Clean and valuable, well organized and identified stock of thousands of 1850s to 1970s period issues, all housed in one very fat and one smaller format stock book. The stock is a bit thin in the earlies but there is still useful representation in First Cents, Large and Small Queens, Jubilees, Leafs and Numerals. The 20th century section becomes more and more comprehensive the more recent the material becomes. Noted decent Tercentenaries, GeoV Admirals, mint and used Bluenoses, full GeoV and GeoVI pictorial sets to the $1.00 (both mint and used) and a near complete run the on from the early 1950s to the early 1970s. The mint stamps are a mix of Never Hinged, Hinged, Hinge Remnant and no gum. Some faults are to be expected in a lot of this massive scope. The face value alone of the useable mint stamps is well over $100.00 and the used material is mostly clean, attractive and decently balanced. Good possibility of postmark and variety finds. Well worth the estimate. Estimate = $1,500.00 $375.00
Canada - Collection/Accumulation of 1,260 Plate Blocks, 1949-1977. Collection/accumulation/stock of 1,260 plate blocks in total, almost all in matched sets, each set in a glassine envelope. Includes runs of plate numbers for definitive issues, paper types, and tagging varieties noting just a few of the better matched sets with Unitrade #s 508p-511p (x2, $140.00 total), along with some matched sets cataloguing from $20 to $40 and up. Duplication generally ranges from 2 to 5 and up for a few issues. Owner's 2022 Unitrade = $3,167.00 $190.00
Canada - Compact but powerful lot of mint (mostly Never Hinged) late GeoVI / early QEII issue singles, blocks and plate blocks, all laid out on 14 stockpages. A wonderful, yet bit messy study to sort out and likely a colossal catalogue value when you consider how many mint stamps and plate blocks are here. A great opportunity for someone to sit down with the Unitrade catalogue and properly sort these out. Estimate = $250.00 $55.00
Canada - Dead Letter Office Group. Scarce selection of clear Dead Letter Office postmarks on a range of Small Queens, QV Numerals and Edwards, plus two used examples of the Officially Sealed label #OX1 (one with the light horizontal crease, otherwise unmarked, the other faulty but with a very faint DLO postmark. Also included is an oval "Enquiry Office - Post Office Toronto" postmark. We don't often get as nice a group as these. Estimate = $200.00 $220.00
Canada - End of consignment bankers box, which starts with a 1989 UPU delegates case with year sets from 1984-1988 given by the Canadian delegation at the Washington DC UPU meeting (never seen one of these before). The rest of the box is a mix of mint (with some "postage") and some used (running from inexpensive bundles to bulk used Special Delivery and other back of the book stamps). There are some presentation cards from the 1960’s and a couple of mounted collection fragments. Noted a couple of pages of used stamps to elicit a discussion: when does an off-centred stamp become a variety? A fascinating box of material. Estimate = $150.00 $240.00
Canada - Huge boxful of used 20th century Canada, in three distinct parts. The first is three binders of 1920’s-1990’s Canada on manila stocksheets (someone counted 17,000 stamps). The second part is a pair of small envelope boxes with used 1950’s issues sorted by Scott numbers. The third and final part is seven wooden and cardboard cigar boxes jammed with bundles going back to late GeoV, with lots of 1942-1943 "War" issue, and commemoratives to about 1955 (with at least one of the boxes being coil singles). We are guessing 80,000-100,000 stamps here. Includes some better values. Seemingly unchecked for postmarks. Enough to keep you busy for a couple of months! Estimate = $180.00 $130.00
Canada - Kiloware - 20 lbs. in a carton, "on and off paper", looks mostly modern. Unchecked as received from the consignor, but looks to be fairly common material..but lots of it! Estimate = $100.00 $120.00
Canada - Mint 2001-2009 Period Die-Cut Collection. Canada Post philatelic "die cut to shape" self adhesive collection housed in black mounts on Minkus album pages in a black Wilson Jones 3-ring binder. Canada Post philatelic "die cut to shape" self adhesive collection housed in black mounts on Minkus album pages in a "like-new" maroon Lighthouse 3-ring binder with matching slipcase. The album pages and "die cut to shape" stamps run from 2010 to 2015. There is good coverage for the period with 281 different stamps in the lot. The total face value is in the $300.00 range. Owner's 2022 Unitrade = $820.00 $280.00
Canada - Mint 2016-2022 Period Die-Cut Collection. Canada Post philatelic "die cut to shape" self adhesive collection housed in black mounts on Minkus album pages in a "like new" black Lighthouse 3-ring binder with matching slipcase. The album pages and "die cut to shape" stamps run from 2016 to 2022. There is good coverage for the period with 178 different stamps in the lot. The total face value is in the $150.00 range. Owner's 2022 Unitrade = $478.00 $160.00
Canada - Mint Booklet and "other" Holding in a binder. A collector's assembly of Canadian booklets, arranged and (mostly) identified on stocksheets within a binder. Several better noted, including mid-value Mammals, self-adhesive, greetings series booklets, some plate blocks and the 1990 "Canadian Forests" mini-sheets. A good "postage plus" offering, conservatively valued for the usable face value only. Total face value = $142.33 $100.00
Canada - Mint Complete Booklet Collection / Holding 1970's to 2000's. A collector accumulated group of 170 pristine mint complete Canadian booklets, appearing to be all different! Included a wide range of issues, both definitive and commemorative with a shift from "lick and stick" to "self-adhesive". The catalogue value would be enormous on this offering, which would also be a great "foot in the door" to a booklet collection for the period. Conservatively valued only for the usable postage. Total face value = $772.23 $500.00
Canada - Mint Medley 1950's/1990's. Clean mint Never Hinged offering of 1950's to 1990's of plate / inscription blocks, all housed within a 32-page stock book. A diverse offering that includes better such as QEII Centennials, 1982 Commonwealth $2.00 and 1950's Forestry / Paper Industry issues. Conservatively valued based on the usable face value of the stamps alone. Total face value = $398.53 $250.00
Canada - Mint Medley 1990's/2000's (with a smattering of earlier) assembly of inscription blocks, partial sheets, booklet panes, souvenir sheets and sheets. All neatly arranged within a 32-page Lighthouse brand stockbook. Some of the better items noted are Birds of Canada sheet, Gilles Villeneuve sheets, "Fruit Tree" definitves, Lunar New Years and Art Canada. Nice clean material, with all stamps appearing to be Never Hinged. Conservatively valued based on the usable face value of the stamps alone. Total face value = $308.56 $170.00
Canada - Mint SHEETS / Multiples in a bulging sheet-folder album. A high-quality offering of mint Canadian material from the late 1940's to late 1990's including better items. Some of the notable sheets are 1975 Olympics semi-postals (still in Post Office wrap), 1992 Hologram "Space", "Birds of Canada" and Lunar New Years. A few foreign sheets included (as received), but not counted in the total. Conservatively valued for the usable postage / face value only. Total face value = $419.36 $210.00
Canada - Modern Post Office Souvenir Sheet "Packs". An all-different assortment of 20 Canada Post packs from the past ten years. These packages were used for the medium / large format souvenir sheets and miniature panes, with additional advertisement and information on the issue included. While the panes themselves are listed individually in Unitrade, we believe that the pack will likely be listed individually in the future as the push for collecting Canada Post products "as issued" is ever-growing. All issues are "P" (permanent) stamps, with the exception of the $5.00 Toronto Maple Leaf jersey souvenir sheet. Conservatively value for the total face value of the sheets (which is set to increase this month with the rise in price of the "P" stamp due to rate increase). Total face value = $176.12 $150.00
Canada - Non-traditional "back of the book" hoard, comprising of souvenir articles prepared by Canada Post and offered to collectors, which have been gaining steam over the past few years as they are mostly listed (and mostly priced) now in the back of the Unitrade catalogue. Includes Thematic Collections (including Lunar New Years, CFL BC Lions coin / stamp combo, Living Earth etc), souvenir cards, millennium tin, centennial case, postal stationery, Winnipeg Jets Picture Postage, Miss Supertest etc. Also included are a few "oddball" items, such as some pewter stamps and COVID-19 Canada Post "Thanks" pins and cards (no stamps). Original Post Office cost was easily over $300.00 on these packs, with catalogue value being significantly more, some of which can prove quite tough to find if you are looking for them! Estimate = $250.00 $180.00
Canada - Plate and corner block collection neatly organized by denomination on four-pocket pages of various sizes. All appear to be mint Never Hinged with both matched sets and single blocks. Perfect for building your 1950-1995 mint collection or to help you get your postage pile in order (with denominations up to one dollar). The bonus material is a number of used or mint (no gum) blocks, including some better values, which were not counted. Conservatively counted only for the total usable postaqe value.Total face value = $596.99 $290.00
Canada - Post Office stamp / coin combinations. A woefully neglected area of Canadian philately, these stamp / coin combination covers and packs were produced in very limited quantities, with many disappearing into the numismatic market before many stamp collectors became aware of their existence. Now listed in the back of the Unitrade catalogue, finding some of these items can prove very difficult. This lot includes the Unitrade listed Thematic Collections #177, 179, 187 (2012 CFL Football) and PNC2 (Philatelic Numismatic Cover, issued in 2011 for "Will and Kate". Also included (but not counted in the catalogue value, as it is not listed) is the Royal Canadian Mint 2012 "Titanic" pack (contains no stamp, but was sold by Canada Post for $25.95). 2024 Unitrade = $221.00 $110.00
Canada - QEII booklet and mint bonanza. Starting with a nice group of about 20 different Centennial booklets (including a 5c cellopak), unchecked by papers, etc.. The collection then jumps a couple of decades to the 37c rate, then running "off and on" to about 2003. The more recent is a mix of complete booklets (most have been opened, and then the covers folded back for display). From 1989 onwards is mostly mint panes that will have to be rescued from their album pages. There is a bit of early Elizabethan and early 1980’s material, including a few coils. The post-Centennial material has a face value of $117.00. Lot of value to be found here once sorted out. Estimate = $130.00 $75.00
Canada - QEII Centennial study / hoard on home-made album pages and stocksheets. Several hundred mint and used stamps, partially identified in places, with lots of work to be done! Mostly mint and mostly Never Hinged, this accumulation needs a good sort but should prove rewarding. Includes singles, blocks, plate block, booklet panes and full sheets. Estimate = $150.00 $65.00
Canada - Quarterly Pack Bonanza. An all-different assortment of 14 Quarterly Packs, ranging from 1996-2009. These packages represent the easiest way to assemble a mint offering from these periods, with a "one of each" format including the self-adhesive stamps in "die cut" format. The total face value in many of these has increased over the issue price, as the permanent ("P") stamps have seen a rise in postal value. Now that these are listed in the back of the Unitrade catalogue (but not priced), collectors have had an increased interest in acquiring them for the sake of completion. Conservatively valued for the total original issue price (which is lower than the actual postage inside with the increase in "P" stamp value). Total original issue price = $140.35 $120.00
Canada - Recent used selection of 146 different COVID period issues, includes latest issues. This is the largest lot of these we have offered yet! Includes the "flying Postal Truck" issued only to postal employees. These issues are so hard to find now that so few people use postal mail. Estimate = $150.00 $180.00
Canada - Selection 42 different used souvenir sheets, used between 1996 - 2020. All are postally used, some with gum were placed in protective covers. Prices starting to rise on these as used examples are so hard to get. 2024 Unitrade = $277.00 $70.00
Canada - Uncut Press – Lunar New Years. Group of 10 uncut press sheets 1998-2009, all still in original Post Office tubes. One of the best choices Canada Post made was to produce the Lunar New Years in uncut press sheet form, being extremely popular with the Asian market, as each stamp was also offering in conjunction with Hong Kong and China. These sheets are works of art, with many collectors opting to have them framed. A nice chance to acquire a large group of these at once. Total useable face value alone being $152.28. 2024 Unitrade = $745.00 $110.00
Canada - Uncut Press Sheets Bonanza. A group of 11 uncut press sheets 1996-2017, all still in original Post Office tube. A nice "larger" lot of these limited-edition Post-Office issues. Included are the issues for 1996 Historical Land Vehicles, 1998 RCMP 125th Anniversary, 2000 Millennium Dove, 2007 Beneficial Insects, 2009 Astronomy, 2012 Titanic, 2013 Superman, 2013 Chinatown Gates, 2014 Empress of Ireland, 2015 Dinos of Canada and 2017 Formula 1 Racing. A nice chance to acquire a large group of these at once. Total useable face value alone being $242.11 (which in some cases is significantly lower than the original Post Office price). 2024 Unitrade = $698.00 $150.00
Canada - Unfinished postage due study of both "purple" and "red" dues. The collector had accumulated material from a wide range of sources (about 90% mint, most Never Hinged), including plate blocks, philatelic and field stock. The first steps had been taken to tentatively identify printings, papers, shades, but it was never completed. A great challenge for the specialist here or the chance for someone to become an expert. Hundreds of stamps, including many "red" postage due plate blocks in their original Post Office packs. As cheapest, the Unitrade would run several hundred dollars. A wonderful lot. Estimate = $150.00 $80.00
Canada - Used Lot as Received. Eclectic lot offered intact as received, consisting of (in no particular order): over 290 lightly duplicated postal stationery cut-squares, Victorian era through modern; a used collection/accumulation of "Caricature/Landscape" definitives: a collection/accumulation of modern $1.00 values (beginning with #321 and with a total catalogue value of $932.40); duplicated used in stock book (#15/641, around 3,000 stamps total); duplicated used in stock book (#642/1236 around 2,800 stamps total). Estimate = $150.00 $65.00
Canada - Used Souvenir Sheet / Miniature Pane HOARD. An astounding group of 200 primarily 2005-2012 (with a scattering of earlier) issued souvenir sheets / miniature panes as assembled by a collector. All are off-paper, and include sheets that were soaked / pressed in addition to sheets with full gum (sent under-protection or Post Office hand-backs). Includes a few booklet panes used (not counted in the total). While duplicated (as it was bound to be), this group would easily represent several hundred dollars of "face value", with many being much harder to find used than mint! Estimate = $300.00 $300.00
Canada - Well organized "B" (Semi-Postals) through "O" (Officials) plus Revenues, mint and used duplicated stock of hundreds, all identified and housed in one stock book. Noted Airmails, War Tax, Postage Dues, perfin and overprinted Officials, Special Deliveries, Airmail Special Deliveries, Registration stamps and more. While there are not many "high values" here, there are more than enough useful items in the mid-range to cover the estimate. Estimate = $300.00 $65.00
Canada and Newfoundland - Premium Sheet/Part Sheet File. Eclectic and all mint Never Hinged "stash" of mostly modern material (plus Newfoundland #268 full sheet), including: a full sheet of #977 (the $2.00 Commonwealth commemorative); sheets and part sheets of the large format "Art" series; sheets of low value "berries"; the 2-stamp pages from "Millennium" books; plus a large quantity of various commemoratives in part sheets and blocks. Worth full face or more! Total Face value = $334.08 $280.00
Canada Cancels - British Columbia Postmarks. Large shoebox sized box, absolutely stuffed with BC Postmarks "A-Z" from circa year-2000 sorted by letter into envelopes. Easily a couple thousand postmarks here, collected / accumulated at the time (24 years ago), but never really sorted beyond sorting them by town name. A interested period in "town cancel" postal history, with many offices transitioning from "POCON" to "RC" (retail centre) and well having a "revolving door" of postmark hammers, including boxed and CDS types as the new rubber self-inking hammers often did not last long before being replaced. A nice chance to get a large lot of these postmarks, which relatively little research has been done. Estimate = $130.00 $110.00
Canada Cancels - British Columbia. Organized offering of 329 postmarks from active offices from across the province 1950's to 2000's including CDS, MOON, POCON and RC (Retail Centre). All neatly arranged (hinged) on black pages. A very useful group of the postmark hound. Estimate = $120.00 $90.00
Canada Cancels - Motherlode in stock Book. Organized accumulation of over 650 used 19th and early 20th century stamps (beginning with Small Queens) all collected for a varied and wide range of postmark types. The postmarks include split-rings, RPOs, rollers, corks, Montreal Duplex Numerals (mostly Admirals), precancels, legible dated Sock on the Nose Victorian era CDS on 3c Small Queens and 2c Numerals (wide range of Provinces and dates noted) as well as a smattering of other types (noted Japan with Canadian receiver postmark and Canadian with foreign cancels). All housed in one Lighthouse stock book. A great starter group for the budding postmark collector. Take a good look at the scans to appreciate the scope of this lot. Estimate = $250.00 $190.00
Canada Cancels - Orb Hoard. Well organized motherlode of "Orb" cancels on a wide range of 19th to mid-20th period issues, all neatly laid out on four Hagner brand stock sheets. Note a variety of postmark types and sub-types from towns including Winnipeg, London, Ottawa and Toronto. A widely collected and popular postmark. Estimate = $150.00 $140.00
Canada Cancels - Slogan Postmark Bonanza. A small boxed crammed with 914 x "2"x4" cut-squared with slogan cancels from across the country, each in dealer cards and identified as to Cec Coutts slogan cancel number (from the Slogan Cancel Catalogue). Also included is the 1996 version of the Slogan Cancel Catalogue, for easy cross-reference, but the previous owner's work done will save you many hours of identification. The catalogue value of the slogan cancels here would be enormous! Estimate = $150.00 $200.00
Canada Covers #868/1169. First Day Cover hoard of about 1240 covers issued between 1980-1990. Moderately duplicated, mostly because there are covers with single, pairs, blocks or plate blocks. All are #8 size (no souvenir sheets) and have typed address, official first day postmark, but no cachet. Most with a folded paper insert. Chronologically ordered in four envelope boxes that fill a banker’s box. Significant original cost here to create these at the time of issue! Estimate = $120.00 $10.00
Canada Covers #1815/1968. Part 1 of a 21st century matched plate block First Day Covers collection. Post Office fresh collection with approximately 200 Canada Post cacheted standard-sized covers 1999-2002 mounted in two-pocket "Vario" brand stocksheets in two matching Uni-safe brand 3-ring albums (with slipcases). These volumes run from the Millennium issue to the end of 2002 and are fairly complete for matched sets, with the occasional missing cover or two. In addition to the matched sets are a number of issues represented as single covers when there were no plate blocks (e.g. souvenir sheets, coils, booklets), in which case one example is included. Larger-sized covers for bigger souvenir sheets (e.g. hockey) were not part of this collection. Given the high face values of modern issues, matched plate blocks aren’t seen very often and not to this degree of completeness. Unitrade doesn’t price them, but the owner’s original cost for this section would have approached $700.00 as the blue padded Uni-Safe three-ring binders in matching slipcase and the black stockpages retails about $150.00 plus the Post Office cost of the FDC. Conservativel counted as face value of the stamps only ("P" values at the cost at the time of sale). Total face value = $423.04 $130.00
Canada Covers #1969/2131. Part 2 of a 21st century matched plate block First Day Covers collection. A Post Office fresh collection of approximately 140 Canada Post cacheted standard-sized covers arranged in two-pocket "Vario" brand pages within two matching Uni-Safe 3-ring albums (with matching slipcases). These two volumes run from 2003 to the end of 2005 and are fairly complete for matched sets (only missing the occasional cover). There are also a number of issues represented as single covers when there were no plate blocks (e.g. souvenir sheets, coils, booklets), in which case one example is included. Larger-sized covers for bigger souvenir sheets (e.g. hockey) were not part of this collection. Given the high face values of modern Post Office issues, matched plate block FDC aren’t seen very often and definitely not to this degree of completeness. While Unitrade doesn’t price them, the owner’s original cost for this section approached $550.00 as the blue padded Uni-Safe three-ring binders in matching slipcase and the black stockpages retails about $130.00 alone, plus the Post Office cost of the FDC. Conservatively counted as face value of the stamps only ("P" values at the cost at the time of sale). Total face value = $279.46 $110.00
Canada Covers #2140/2258. Part 3 of a 21st century matched plate block First Day Covers collection. Post Office fresh collection with approximately 150 Canada Post cacheted standard-sized covers mounted in two pocket "Vario"-brand pages within two Uni-Safe brand 3-ring albums (with matching slipcases). These two volumes run from 2006 to late 2010 and are fairly complete for matched sets of inscription block FDC, only missing the occasional cover. There are also a number of issues represented as single covers when there were no plate blocks (e.g. souvenir sheets, coils, booklets), in which case one example is included. Larger-sized covers for bigger souvenir sheets (e.g. hockey) were not part of this collection. Given the high face values of modern Post Office issues, matched plate blocks aren’t seen very often and most definitely not to this degree of completeness. Unitrade doesn’t price them, but the owner’s original cost for this section approached $650.00 as the blue padded Uni-Safe three-ring binders in matching slipcase and the black stockpages retails about $130.00 plus the Post Office cost of the covers. Counted as face value of the stamps only ("P" values at the cost at the time of sale). Total face value = $433.77 $120.00
Canada Covers - Almost three hundred private cachet First Day Covers filling a small box. About half are Cole, 1/3 are "NR Covers" and the balance is Harford. There are a number of "one offs" (such as local societies or for stamp shows), and then a small number of philatelic show covers (non-first day) including illustrated cachet and show postmarks. Great condition, most unaddressed and all are individually sleeved, most with a label on the sleeve with the Scott #. There is a bit of minor duplication, usually when there is a multiple as well as a single or a different postmark. The majority are 1965-1980, with the strength being 1969-1974 (before Canada Post got into the FDC business). A very popular collecting area! Estimate = $150.00 $130.00
Canada Covers - BC British Columbia Postal History / FDC collection. A philatelic project by an avid postmark collector with a tank-full of gasoline! A small tub containing 567 covers, all postmarked of the first day of issue for stamps between 1996-1998 cancelled at mostly smaller Post Offices across the province. Seemingly, when a new issue came out, the collector would trek across the province to get "one-off" first day covers cancelled at smaller Post Offices. As a result, there is wide array of town postmarks represented here including CDS, POCON and Retail Centre types (often multiple types on a single cover if the P.O. had more than one hammer available). Impossible to recreate and from a transitional period where not much information is available for postmark types (including many short-use hammers). An absolute gold-mine for the modern BC postmark collector. Estimate = $200.00 $190.00
Canada Covers - British Columbia - Victoria / Vancouver Airmail Grouping. An interesting "first time to market" group of items related to the early airmail service between Victoria and Vancouver. Included is a quartets of 1930 "special flights" through Nanaimo BC, a duo of 1931 flights from Victoria to Vancouver (including registered / Postmaster signed), 1928 FFC Victoria to Vancouver (signed by Postmaster), 1928 BC Airways Semi Official stamp on FFC Victoria to Vancouver and last (but definitely not least) is a Post Office Airmail Tag for the 1931 First Flight. All items addressed to John Callow, a member of the Post Office staff in Victoria. Seldom seen material. Estimate = $130.00 $120.00
Canada Covers - British Columbia Coastal Steamships. A partial research archive, compiled by BC postal history pioneer Bill Topping on steamships owned by Mackenzie Bros, Grand Trunk Pacific Coast Steamship Co and CNR Steamships. A few dozen extensively researched pages, sprinkled with 6 postcards, 3 cancels on piece and 9 covers (along with some photographs and other relevant material). A nice lot for someone looking to continue on with the research into this fascinating area. Estimate = $120.00 $85.00
Canada Covers - British Columbia Postal History. A Rubbermaid tote, stuffed with 918 covers, all selected for postmarks. Primarily 1950's to 1970's material, but with some earlier and later as well. While likely no glaring rarities, this should still prove to be a treasure trove for the postmark type collector or town cancel enthusiast. Well worth the estimate of less than 20c per item. Estimate = $180.00 $300.00
Canada Covers - British Columbia Postal History. Selection of five CHOICE split ring cancels on postcard from 1907-1913 with all being chosen for scarcity. Postmarks include Fort George 1913, South Fort George 1911, Discovery 1912, Baynes Lake 1907 and Wattsburg 1909. The two "Fort George" items are also on attractive RPPC (real photo postcards) from the area at the time. Note, the quality of strikes found here is well above average considering some of these offices only saw a short period of use. A great lot for the BC postal historian. Each item is individually sleeved and priced. Total retail as marked = $385.00 $140.00
Canada Covers - British Columbia Postal History. Small box containing 385 covers / large pieces from the mid-1990's to mid-2000's, each selected for POCON or "RC" (Retail Centre) postmarks, with poor strikes being discarded at the time of collection (so only quality strikes remain). A under-appreciated time period for town-cancels, with a huge amount of change overs in terms of hammers and Post Office numbers used. Originally offered at $2.00 each by the person who collected these, this box has not seen the light of day in several years. Estimate = $120.00 $180.00
Canada Covers - Deluxe Edition "The Story of Canada" First Day Covers 1982-1989. Very expensive collection of specially prepared deluxe First Day Covers in four volumes, all with slipcases. This "The Story of Canada" collection consists of 80 different gold foil cacheted FDCs, all mounted on a full colour illustrated page with a story on the event being commemorated, along with a VF mint NH Canadian (or Newfoundland) stamp also associated with the event. Not a complete run of all the covers, as many of the subscribers ended the acquisition of these pricey items ($9.95 each for an original cost for this lot of $796.00) as the cost became excessive. Still a great collection for the fan of Canadian history and scarce cachet types for the FDC cachet collector. Estimate = $150.00 $55.00
Canada Covers - First Day Covers. A shoebox, crammed with 622 First Day Covers from (primarily) the 1960's / 1970's with a mix of both private cachet, un-cacheted covers and a small number of early Canada Post issue covers. Conservatively estimated at less than 20c per cover. Estimate = $120.00 $42.00
Canada Covers - First Flight Covers (FFC). An accumulation of 169 covers, in a small box, with all being flights from the late 1920's to early 1940's with emphasis on the 1930's period (especially the "Prairies" and "Northern"). A nice glimpse into the hey-day Canadian airmail during the late 1920's to the 1940's with many bearing the C1 airmail stamp or GeoV "Admirals". An attractive lot for any Aero-philatelist. Estimate = $160.00 $160.00
Canada Covers - Modern Military Commercial Mail. A compact small box, crammed with approximately 800 covers sent from Canadian Forces overseas in the early 1990's. A seldom seen large lot of true commercial mail, all being mailed back to "VISA" in Toronto (yes, those credit cards still needed to be paid!). All feature Canadian Forces postmarks including Navy and CFPO (Canadian Forces Post Office), the latter being numbered and a quick check through showed offices in Germany, France and Cyprus. Beyond the postmark interest is the wonderful array of rates, from an interesting time in Canadian definitive issues which include the "Mammals", "Fruit Trees" and QEII portraits. A wonderful group for further study. Estimate = $130.00 $60.00
Canada Covers - New Brunswick Postal History / FDC selection. A philatelic project by an avid postmark collector with a tank-full of gasoline! A small tub containing 719 covers, all postmarked of the first day of issue for stamps between 1987-1990 cancelled at mostly smaller Post Offices across the province. Estimate = $200.00 $260.00
Canada Covers - Newfoundland Postmark HOARD. The definition of a hoard of covers, being 1520 covers all dated 1969 addressed to "Eatons" at Gander NFLD and selected for NFLD postmarks. While there is a mix of split rings, CDS and machine cancels, as you might expect it is heavily duplicated in terms of towns represented. That being said, there should still be a large number of different towns to be gleaned from this offering. Semi-sorted by issue, which are unchecked for paper florescent varieties. An unusual offering, which should prove interesting to sort out. Estimated at less than 10 cents per cover! Estimate = $150.00 $130.00
Canada Covers - Ontario Postal History. Small box FILLED with a total of 1087 covers or postcards, all featuring Ontario postmarks including primarily CDS, POCON and RC (Retail Centre). Accumulated by a collector over a number of years that was attempting to acquire postmarks from every Post Office across the country (so often sending small offices self-addressed envelopes). Primarily 1990's to 2000's material including some obscure looking material from smaller Post Offices. A great lot for the postmark hound, with a great variety of modern postmarks, many of which surely are only short-lived. Estimate = $180.00 $170.00
Canada Covers - Post Office "boxed sets" / FDC Annual Collections for 2005-2008 inclusive. This group of four "wooden box" year sets were a premium offering from Canada Post, typically offered at almost double the face value of the stamps inside (i.e. 2008 stamps have a face value of $36.03, sale price of the box was $68.43). As not many of these were purchased by collectors at the time due to their high price-tag, we see very few coming onto the secondary market. Original cost would easily be over $250.00 on these as new. Estimate = $150.00 $100.00
Canada Covers - Postal History Potpourri. A shoebox sized box containing an interesting "QV to QEII" mix of covers and postcards from across the county. Over 500 items in total including FFC (First Flight Covers), FDC (First Day Covers), Newfoundland, postal stationery, picture postcards, rates, advertising, military and postmarks (including many split rings). A wonderful lot to sort through, keep what you need and sell of the remainder. Estimate = $200.00 $220.00
Canada Covers - Postcard Literature Grouping. An invaluable group of postcard literature, filling a small box. Included with the lot are "The Canadian Patriotic Postcard Checklist 1898-1928" by Michael Smith, "British Columbia in the Decade of the 1950's (JC Walker postcard listing), "The Canadian Patriotic & Heraldic Postcard Handbook 1897-1945" by Michael Smith (2-volumes), "Historical Picture Postcards published by T.N. Hibben Co. by Ron Souch, "The Rueben R. Sallows Picture Postcard Handbook 1900-1925" by Michael Smith / Larry Mohring, "A History and Directory of Yukon Postcards 1897-1942" by Ken Elder and SEVEN additional handbooks, mostly relating to Western Canadian postcards. A nice chance to acquire 14 postcard reference works at once. Enormous original retail cost. Estimate = $200.00 $230.00
Canada Covers - Saskatchewan Postal History / FDC collection. A philatelic project by an avid postmark collector with a tank-full of gasoline! A small tub containing 771 covers, all postmarked of the first day of issue for stamps between 1990-1996 (with a small handful of earlier) cancelled at mostly smaller Post Offices across the province. Seemingly, when a new issue came out, the collector would trek across the province to get "one-off" first day covers cancelled at smaller Post Offices. As a result, there is wide array of town postmarks represented here including CDS, POCON and Retail Centre types. Stongest in the CDS cancel types, as many of the hammers were used much later in Saskatchewan compared to other provinces. Most of the covers also have a modern cachet envelope, acquired or produced by the collector to be used. Impossible to recreate and from a transitional period where not much information is available for postmark types (including many short-use hammers). Estimate = $200.00 $400.00
Canada Covers - Small box of postal stationery, mostly pre-1985. A great starter lot, with better items which include a 5c Nesbitt envelope (EN1, mint), revalued CPR roulette and Cameo postal card. There are some better wrappers including a mint "Inland Revenue" printing and some clean mint lettercards. The remaining items are a mixture of mint and used envelopes and postal cards (including a few reply cards). Some are still individually sleeved and priced from the original dealer, and we note some with cancel interest. A solid lot, in above average condition. Estimate = $150.00 $100.00
Canada Covers - The Canadian Rockies - Jasper / Banff / Glacier / Field. As extraordinary offering of 124 postcards, all with view of the Great Canadian Rockies / corridor between British Columbia and Alberta. A collector assembled group, which was priced by a dealer with most of the cards in the $10-$25 each range (total retail is likely well over $1500). All vintage cards here, with no modern / chrome cards at all. Included many RPPC (real photo postcards) from photographers such as Harmon, Weiss and Stark. As this was a collector assembled group, there is seemingly no duplication. Take a good look at the scans to appreciated both the quality and quantity on offer here. Estimate = $300.00 $270.00
Canada Covers - V--- (Victory) WWII Slogan Cancel HOARD. One man's collection / lifetime hoard of 2336 covers and postcards from across the country, all with the V--- "morse code" wartime slogan cancel. It would be an absolutely impossible task to try and accumulate this many again, as these were collected over many years, often purchased one at a time! Besides the postmarks, rates and corner cards / advertising are found throughout. A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire what would take many years to assemble. Estimate = $450.00 $190.00
Canada Revenues #FWS7-14. War Savings Stamps. Mint no gum or "on piece" selection of 19 lightly duplicated examples of the 1941 issue 25c carmine War Savings stamps, consisting of #FWS7 x 3, FWS8 x 5, FWS9 x 1, FWS10 x 2, FWS11 x 2, FWS12 x 3, FWS13 x 1 and FWS14 x 2. 281 Canada Revenues #PC4, PC4d. Prairie Provinces Conservation Stamp #PC4, PC4d. Full Very Fine mint Never Hinged complete pane of 20 of the 1942 issue 25c blue "Canada Goose". The pane contains 11 examples of the Van Dam Listed "thick white frame line at right, no frame line at left" (six of them are from the center of the sheet and as such are perforated all around with a premium of 50%). The "frame line" varieties vary from sheet to sheet due to the 2-part printing process. Full panes are scarce. 2022 van Dam = $810.00 $55.00
Canada Revenues #YL3, YL9, YL12, YL18. Fine/Very Fine mint selection of 4 different 1902 issue Yukon Territorial Law stamps, including the $5.00 overprint in dark blue. The 50c orange (#YL3) is OG Hinged, while the other 3 stamps are all Never Hinged. 2022 van Dam = $457.50 $70.00

The complete list of numbers (with duplication) consists of the complete "blues" (#YL7-YL12) as well as the 25c black and silver overprint (#YL13). Note a useful range of cancel types. A great dealer/study lot. 2022 van Dam catalogue = $564.00 $75.00
Canadian Provinces - Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Old-time mint / used assembly, taken out of a packet by us, having been stowed away for decades. Included 9 used stamp and 17 mint stamps (including a block of four). A few small faults among the used stamps (usually minor perf faults) and the mint are Hinged (or no-gum), but overall a very clean offering for this period. The no-gum stamps were counted as the lowest catalogue value. 2024 Scott US$511.00 = $689.85 $85.00
Canadian Provinces - British Columbia #7, 8. Used examples of the 1865 issue 3p blue "Seal of BC" and 1867 issue "TWO CENTS" surcharge on 3p brown "Seal of BC", both perf 14 x 14 and watermarked "Crown & CC". A couple of short perfs noted for the record. 2024 Scott US$260.00 = $351.00 $32.00
Canadian Provinces - New Brunswick - An old-time mint / used assembly, not having seen the light of day in decades! Includes 15 used stamps and 4 mint (bottom row). A few short perforations here and there, but an above-average showing for this period. The mint stamps have original gum, but tend to be heavily Hinged. We noted some shade variation, but have conservatively valued at the lowest possible catalogue value for each issue. 2024 Scott US$880.00 = $1,188.00 $130.00
Canadian Provinces - Newfoundland #1. Fresh and Very Fine four margin mint no gum example of the 1857 issue 1p brown violet on thick porous paper (with mesh). 2024 Scott US$125.00 = $168.75 $120.00
Canadian Provinces - Newfoundland - Stock of mint and (mostly) used sometimes heavily duplicated stock of many hundreds of 19th and 20th century issues. All neatly identified and organized in one red stock book. Not many complete sets in the mix (often missing the top values). The lot still offers a considerable total catalogue value with individual values from just about every long series. A smattering of "Back of the Book" issues, revenues and Bileski specials rounds out the offering. Estimate = $250.00 $130.00
China #78. Used example of the 1897 issue "one cent." surcharge on 3 cents "red revenue". Small thin noted for the record. 2024 Scott US$350.00 = $472.50 $38.00
China - Bankers box with three binders of computer-generated album pages. The first binder covers China, Taiwan and PRC up to about 1993 (a couple hundred stamps here, best are pre-revolution). The next two-volumes are albums high grade thin card pages covering Taiwanese issues from 1950-2000, with a number of mint and used stamps in black mounts. The box is filled in with a number of stockpages with stamps and a few souvenir sheets, more Taiwan than PRC, although there is a 2000 PRC hardbound year set and almost a pound of kiloware of modern issues. The albums are far better than normally seen of this type and are ready for expansion. Estimate = $150.00 $110.00
Cook Islands #10/130. New Zealand administration era, mostly mint collection on black stockpages. Most have been identified by the previous owner and include a good selection of the Queen Makea Takau and Torea (bird) issues, followed by overprints on New Zealand GeoV-GeoVI issues (including on the postal-fiscal and Admiral high values), as well as the first few commemorative sets including "Captain Cook" and common design issues. Most are fresher than usually seen, but most are Hinged (a couple may have no gum). The few used stamps are not counted in the total catalogue value. Total 2023 Scott US$918.30 = $1,239.71 $110.00
Cuba #51/1318 plus Back of the Book. Not often seen collection of pre-revolutionary and early Castro-era material mostly mounted on a series of random quadrilled pages and some stockcards. A mostly mint offering, often arranged within in black mounts. Amongst the hundreds of stamps are the Christmas issues (noted three blocks of 1960 and various other overprints from subsequent years), a number of $3.00-$10.00 sets (often with their airmail counterparts) and the occasional souvenir sheet. The dealer’s cards are often multiples up to 10 stamps, which has a catalogue value that adds up quickly. There is likely a bit of duplication here, as the pages are overlapping and out of order. In need of a good sort, which should prove rewarding for the intrepid collector. Estimate = $160.00 $120.00
Czechoslovakia - Banker’s box with something for everyone. There is a sparsely populated group of computer-generated album with pages up to 1992, including a few hundred stamps. This is followed a large group of glassines filled with an accumulation of mostly used stamps, in quantities up to 50, ranging from Scott #1601-onwards (these take up half the box!). The stockbooks are from a range of maker s including Lighthouse, Uni-Safe, Showgard and Filex. Estimate = $160.00 $250.00

France - A page of imperforate classics, mostly from 1853-1871, with a wide range of designs, colours, shades and cancel potential. Includes both "Empire" and "Republic" issues, with some Bordeaux printings. Condition better than usually seen, but many having nice wide margins. Uncatalogued by us, but these 50 stamps will add up quickly. There are also few perforated generally from the same era (includes #14 perf 7, #37 filler but catalogues $750.00). Estimate = $180.00 $70.00
France and Colonies - A good handful of auction lots purchased over the years by an avid collector covering France, St. Pierre and Miquelon (including some "FNFL" overprints), Togo, Dahomey, Cameroon, Algeria and Wallis and Futuna. Almost all is 20th century, with at least 80% being mint and with relatively little duplication. The previous owner purchased many of these and then stowed them away for decades. Overall condition is good, and the layout should make it easy to sort. Estimate = $220.00 $170.00
France and Colonies - Accumulation with the best being mint and used from the first half of the 20th century, noted Vimy, 1937 Exposition, World Cup, etc. The best of the Colonies includes French Polynesia with a mounted mint collection and a pair of 1990 sheetlets. Noted a page of Wallis and Futuna, a small mounted collection of Somali with a few bits and pieces from other colonies rounding out the lot. Condition a bit mixed, but the overall appearance is quite nice. Estimate = $160.00 $80.00
France and Colonies - An eclectic mix of French Polynesia, St. Pierre and Miquelon, Andorra, Morocco, Algeria, Syria, Guiana, Offices in China, and even some material from France, itself... This is the balance of an estate with auction lots left as purchased, with some dealer cards and random album pages. As these items weren’t touched, the collector often repeatedly bought the same material. You won’t mind, as he had a good eye for interesting lots. Lots of value here for the keen sorter. Estimate = $180.00 $150.00
France and Colonies - Small bundle of joie! Certainly the most interesting is from the colonies, take a good look at the 10 excised album pages, strong with offices in China, Egypt, Turkey and Syria. There is also some generic issues from French colonies, a Dahomey postage due and a nice short set from Gabon. From the mother country we noted 4 booklets of the 1967 Red Cross set, a mixed sextet of Alsace-Lorraine occupation issues, a page of 1960’s mint semi-postals and a page of mint Never Hinged modern "Mariannes". The lot finishes with a couple of pages of former colonies Algeria and Tunisia. Don’t wait for the next one like this, lots of better items throughout. Estimate = $200.00 $160.00
German States - Classic Selection in Stock Book. A really mixed bag of over 330 duplicated pre-Confederation German State issues, an old-time holding in an ancient stock book. The lot includes a wide range of mint, used, reprint, sound and faulty material. States include North German Confederation, Brunswick, Lubeck, Oldenberg, Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia, Hanover, Thurn & Taxis and Wurttemberg plus others, as well as a smattering of Germany proper. All relatively neatly laid out so viewing will be easy. Could be a pleasant find or two for the student of classic Germany. Estimate = $250.00 $110.00
German States - Treasure and "less than treasure" on two stockpages. There are some gems amongst the space fillers, reprints and forgeries found here. Many states here, but largest numbers are from Baden, Bavaria and Wurttemberg. Not surprisingly, most of the stamps are used, with some nice cancels to be found. Some of those space fillers catalogue many hundreds, if not thousands of dollars and will make for a good place holder until something better comes along. From a very old holding. Estimate = $160.00 $36.00
German States Brunswick #7, 8, 23, 24, 26. Used quintet of 1853 to 1865 period issues. Generally sound and Fine/Very Fine (#23 has a slightly trimmed edge at left). 2024 Scott US$665.00 = $897.75 $22.00
German States Hamburg #7, 14, 21, 24, 25. Clean mint quintet of sound and Fine/Very Fine pre-Confederation issues. The key #7 is OG Hinged. 2024 Scott US$266.25 = $359.45 $55.00
German States Hamburg #21. Fresh, sound and Very Fine, partial CDS used example of the 1864-1865 issue 9 Schillings yellow "Value Numeral on Arms" type, perf 13½ x 13½. 2024 Scott US$2,000.00= $2,700.00 $375.00
Germany #366/523. Bulging "Biella" binder with mostly Nazi-era issues in clear mounts on quadrilled pages. Not your usual collection, there are many sets, with a bit of duplication for nice cancels or non-Scott listed varieties. More used than mint, and not many holes. Includes some souvenir sheets (B106 mint, Never Hinged), good converge of semi-postals and airmails. There are some bonus covers such as the 1936 Berlin Olympics semi-postals on a single cover. Overall the condition is outstanding. The owner’s catalogue value is fairly recent, and spot check shows it to be quite representative of the current Scott values. Owner’s Scott US$1806.00 = $2,438.10 $190.00
Germany #585A/1795, B302/B748. Postwar German collection on 23 Vario-brand stockpages (5-8 strips) in a green padded 3-ring binder with a blue slipcover. About 1000 stamps and a couple dozen souvenir sheets, with only a touch of duplication. Up to about 1950, there is a mix of mint and used which transitions to almost exclusively used. Very complete, very clean, well laid out and includes regular issue definitives, commemoratives and semi-postals. A quick look noted items with catalogue values up to $25.00 each. Album and pages retail for $80.00 alone. Note, the example of 9NB3a shown in a "facsimilie" (printed as such on the back). Estimate = $150.00 $80.00
Germany #666/1071 plus Back of the Book. A very full KA-BE binder with hingeless pages covering 1949-1971 with a mostly used run. Starts a bit slow, but by 1954 there are few holes left, including for the semi-postals (note: the Beethoven souvenir sheet is mint). After 1960, most of the pages have space for both mint and used stamps, which are mostly filled. The collector has augmented the collection with a range of covers (some philatelic, some not). There is also some indication that different varieties have been pursued. Very complete and very clean - you won’t find many faults here. Album pages and springback binder, as new, will set you back $400.00. The total catalogue value is several hundred dollars. Estimate = $250.00 $90.00
Germany #670-685. Stunning Mint Never Hinged "Numeral and Post Horn" 1951-1952 compete set of 16, fresh with vivid colours and rare thus. As nice a set as you will see for some time. 2024 Scott US$1700.00 = $2,295.00 $260.00
Germany #702-721. Vibrantly fresh Mint Never Hinged complete set of the 1954-1960 "President Theodor Heuss" definitive series. These sets are getting harder to find in condition as nice as this. 2024 Scott US$225.00 = $303.75 $38.00
Germany - Box of "to process another day". This box lot is the result of a dealer / collector that set this accumulation aside, with the idea that they will deal with them later (which never came). The box consists of pre-1950 Germany, including material from at least a dozen sources, most mounted on album pages of various types, with some stockpages and a couple of sparsely filled 16-page stockbooks. Includes lots of inflation and Nazi-era material, with some semi-postal, airmail, official and occupation issues (moderate amount of General Government). Thousands of mint and used stamps. Noted some singles cataloguing up to $20.00 each, with lots of potential at every turn. Estimate = $150.00 $100.00
Germany - East German Post Office Annual Collections for 1984-1988 and 1990. High quality East German Post Office issued annual collections containing all the mint Never Hinged stamps, souvenir sheets and postal stationery (both regular and semi-postal issues) for the years 1984-1988 and 1990. Six different volumes (with matching slipcases) in total, all with the stamps housed in mounts on profusely illustrated and annotated pages. Significant new issue cost and high total Scott/Michel catalogue value. Estimate = $150.00 $55.00
Germany - Exchange Duty Stamps / Postal Fiscals. An interesting collection of 153 German Exchange Duty / Revenue stamps, neatly arranged on 7 pages as assembled by the original collector. Ranging in dates from "Pre-1900" to the 1950's, this assembly is seemingly all different. Not catalogued, but these seem to be offered online from $3-$5 each! A wonderful group for further study, or to break down for resale. Estimate = $130.00 $42.00
Germany - Perfin collection in dark green Lighthouse black 16-page stockbook. Most are pre-1950 used definitives, showing a wide range of stamps and companies. Between different stamps and different perfin orientations, there is very little duplication amongst the attractively arranged 611 stamps. We couldn’t see a pattern in how they were organized, so it was probably chronological by date of acquisition. Overall the condition is quite nice. Unchecked for rarity, as received. Estimate = $140.00 $65.00
Germany - Post Office Annual Collections for 1991-1996. High quality German Federal Republic Post Office issued annual collections containing all the mint Never Hinged stamps and souvenir sheets (both regular and semi-postal issues) for the years 1991-1996. Six different volumes (with matching slipcases) in total, all with the stamps housed in mounts on profusely illustrated and annotated pages. Significant new issue cost, high face value (in DM) and high total Scott/Michel catalogue value. Estimate = $150.00 $36.00
Germany - Schaubek album #1 containing post-war Germany from 1949 up to 1990. The earlier issues are a bit sparse, and mostly used, but starts becoming fairly complete by 1955. More mint starts about 1960 (Hinged at first) and by 1974, the collection is quite complete and all mint Never Hinged in collector added clear mounts (a very professional job). The collection peters off again in 1982, with a mix of mint and used. There are some souvenir sheets and "back of the book" semi-postals. Hundreds of stamps, with a catalogue value that will add up quickly. The binder has been protected by a paper cover, keeping it looking almost new. A new album of this type will set you back $500.00 before you add a single stamp. Great for collection building or dealer stock. Estimate = $250.00 $100.00
Germany - Berlin #9NB3a. VF mint Never Hinged example of the 1949 "Offering of Plate and Berlin Bear" semi postal issue souvenir sheet. The surtax was for Berlin victims of currency devaluation. A couple very minor handling gum bends noted "for the record", but a very scarce souvenir sheet to get in Never Hinged condition. 2024 Scott US$975.00 = $1,316.25 $270.00
Germany - Berlin #9N1-9N16, 9N17-9N34, 9N64-9N66. VF mint Lightly Hinged selection of three complete sets, including both the 1948-1949 "BERLIN" overprints and the 1949 surcharge set of 4 (from the same basic series. The two higher values (9N33/9N34) are Never Hinged, but we have conservatively valued the group as Hinged. 2024 Scott US$587.10 = $792.60 $110.00
Germany - Berlin #9N35-9N41, 9NB1-9NB3. VF mint Lightly Hinged duo of complete 1949 sets including the 75th anniversary of the UPU (Universal Postal Union) and "Offering of Plate and Berlin Bear" semi-postal series. Post Office fresh, a tough pair of sets to get in decent condition. 2024 Scott US$271.25 = $366.20 $42.00
Germany - Berlin #9N42-9N60. VF mint Never Hinged complete set (19 values) of the 1949 pictorial definitive issue, which includes views of Brandenburg Gate, Tempelhof Airport and National Gallery (to name a few). A choice set, in pristine Post Office fresh condition. 2024 Scott US$575.00 = $776.25 $100.00
Germany - Berlin #9N61-9N63. VF mint Never Hinged set of the 1949 "Goethe" series, issued to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. An attractive set in fresh condition. 2024 Scott US$240.00 = $324.00 $38.00
Germany - Berlin #9N68/9N119, 9NB8/9NB16. An almost complete run of 1950-1956 sets / singles, all in Mint Lightly Hinged / Never Hinged condition. Neatly laid out on two Vario brand stocksheets, with no broken or incomplete sets. While there are Never Hinged throughout (including both the "Bell" issues), this group has all been conservatively valued as Hinged. 2024 Scott US$375.95 = $507.55 $50.00
Germany - Berlin - Fabulous, mostly used, stock in green "KEK" 16-page stockbook, with mostly used examples from 1948-1990. Mostly 1948-1990 issues, postally used, nicely laid out on black pages, with up to 3 copies of a type, perfect for adding to your collection or for circuit book makers. The first page has lots of better including first and second issues with black and red overprints (we are ignoring the three used copies of 9N33 which are likely forgeries), but there are "Bells", as well as better singles throughout. A very thorough offering, in very nice condition. About 1200 stamps here. Estimate = $150.00 $42.00
Germany - Berlin and Germany - An odd combination in a Schaubek 2-post album. It probably started out as a "Berlin" album, with a run of pages from 1948-1990, holding a bit of a light mix of mint and used stamps. Most are used but there are pockets of mint which are often housed in collector added clear mounts. Coverage becomes more solid starting in 1960, including semi-postals, and then gets light again in the late 1970’s. Several hundred stamps here, most in excellent condition. Subsequently, there are Schaubek hingeless pages for Germany between 1991-1995 were added (complete with mint stamps for 1991-1993, and empty for 1994 and 1995. Overall good for building a collection, filling holes, or just the album, which is in excellent condition (retails as new for over $300.00). Estimate = $160.00 $140.00
Germany / DDR - Two binder intermingled accumulation. The German material starts in the inflationary period and then jumps forward to the post-war era, gaining strength in the 1960’s with a mix of mint, used and CTO. Includes some souvenir sheets (adding in a few "Berlin" issues here) and multiples of DDR, including #2071-2085 in full CTO sheets of 100. The second binder is almost exclusively DDR back to about 1950, and resembles more of a collection, all on Vario-brand stocksheets, with multiples and souvenir sheets in this group as well. Throughout there are many items in the $5.00-$20.00 range. Overall the condition is quite good, but expect there to be some duplication. Estimate = $160.00 $32.00
Germany and German Democratic Republic - A quintet of stockbooks, in varying sizes, brands all of which have seen better days. There is a 32-page brown Lighthouse stockbook with black pages, half filled with mint, Never Hinged German regular and semi-postal issues (1976-1990). The next is another half-filled stockbook this time used between Scott #800/1249. A disintegrating KEK stockbook has some potential in the post-war period (and a couple of pages of circa 1900 United States material at back). A green Uni-Safe stockbook has a few pages of used German from the 1970’s-2002, sandwiched between some France and Austria. The sleeper in the lot may be the DDR collection in an old Elephant brand stockbook. Mostly used, very complete (but no souvenir sheets), and appears to be a lot more postal usages than normally seen. Lots of catalogue value here, especially in the 1948-1954 era. Estimate = $180.00 $60.00
Germany and States #1/2059. Mostly organized, properly identified and tidily laid out sometimes heavily duplicated mint and used stock of many thousands, from earlies up to the 1980s period, the majority being basic Germany and Federal Republic issues. Some States, Occupations and sundry also included. Some better noted and should be finds for the cancel and/or variety collector in the mix. 332 Germany DDR - First Day Covers / Covers accumulation. A total of 716 covers from the 1950's to 1970's, primarily addressed to Canada. Very little duplication, except with the last 1/3 of the album, with a lot of used souvenir sheets, some sets and singles, a few First Day Covers and interestingly a mint pair of imperforate Karl Marx souvenir sheets from 1953. There is also a used 1964 - 15th anniversary souvenir sheet tucked inside the front cover. Estimate = $200.00 $75.00

Ghana #606/1461. Once the philatelic darling of post-colonial British Africa, the former "Gold Coast" had fallen out of favour, which is unfortunate, as they continued to have compelling issues. Loaded with topical interest such as sports, flight/space, and birds and with significant numbers of revalues and overprints. 355 Great Britain - Bankers box with binders / stockbooks containing the remnants of a consignment with potential value throughout, either for its "classics", its decimal-era postage and all things in between. Binder #1 is full of first day covers, with some mint presentation packs, ranging from the 1970’s to the Beatles (and a few other countries seen). Stockbook #2 is a 16-page stockbook, with three pages of worthwhile used QV-GeoV and good coverage up to 1968. Binder #3 is a 16-page CWS stockbook with black double sided Lighthouse stockpages (can be moved over to three ring binder), with used collection of 1980’s-1990’s. Binder #4 has 30 plus manila stockpages with mostly used QV-1999 issues. Binder #5 has assorted pages and lots of mint decimal-era sets, along with some used plus a few FDC’s (including the pound 1 Wedgewood booklet). 356 Great Britain - Channel Islands and Other Locals. Great original holding/accumulation of various specialized Channel Island and other Local Post stamps (and a couple of covers) including Lundy, Jethou, Herm, Calf of Man, Staffa, St Kilda, Sanda, Davaar, Nagaland and more. 357 Great Britain - First Day Covers 1970's / 1980's. A collector's assortment of roughly 150 first day covers, as received from "Royal Mail" addressed to Victoria BC. A nice run for the period, including several better QEII Machin booklet pane covers. All with the Royal Mail philatelic illustrated cachet. The catalogue value of the stamps alone would add up quickly! Estimate = $120.00 $42.00
Great Britain - First UK Aerial Post Card. The GeoV Coronation commemorative 1911 First UK "Coronation" aerial postcard. Specially cacheted and postmarked Sept 12th postcard with half pence KGV definitive affixed. Neatly written-up on the original collector's page, identified as Dark Brown Card, Second Printing. A great "first of the first flights" lot. Estimate = $120.00 $46.00
Great Britain - Machin Booklet Pane First Day Covers. Group of QEII Machin booklet panes of 8 (plus label) on cacheted first day covers issued between 1991 and 2010. Themes include Agatha Christy, Tolkien, Beatrix Potter, National Trust, European Football ’96 (regional issue), BBC, speed, science, Darwin, Golden Jubilee, Royal Society etc. A very clean grouping, with each cover being individually sleeved. Significant initial cost and catalogue value. Estimate = $150.00 $24.00
Great Britain - Modern Mint Never Hinged Sets and Souvenir Sheets. Very clean and useful modern commemorative sets and premium souvenir sheets with a good number of post-2000 issues noted in the mix as well as a hard cover 1984 Annual Collection. The breakdown is as follows: £70.50 denominated stamps; £150.00 "1st Class"; £8.25 "2nd Class" and £15.40 "E" rates. All conservatively valued at the present-day face value. Total face value £244.15 = $416.00 $110.00
Great Britain - Perfin holding. Six reigns of perfins on six stockpages! Colourful, intriguing and possessing significant catalogue value. Queen Victoria has a full page, with Penny Reds, Jubilees and values to 5/-. KEVII is half a page with a 5/- and 10/-. The King George V includes three Seahorses. Edward VIII, King George VI and Elizabeth include a wide range of issues and perfins, including some on-piece. Seemingly all different, with the only real duplication is in the QEII blocks. Condition is an issue with some of these, and many could use a soaking. Not unusual, as these have been under appreciated for decades. Catalogue value without perfins would easily be a few thousand dollars in Scott catalouge. Estimate = $150.00 $60.00
Great Britain - Pre-decimal accumulation or "study-in-the-making", in a red stockbook and a 3-ring binder. The stockbook is a bit lightly filled, but includes some nice QV, EDVII to 5/-, a mint Hinged/Never Hinged KGV definitive set. The binder is filled with a couple dozen black stockpages (most are 8 strips), filed with a good run of both common and better QV (with a nice block of six "Penny Reds" with lovely "Dublin" cancels). From the late Victorian to early Elizabethan era (with about 2/3 of the pages being QEII regionals), there are a number of pages with about 100 used stamps of a type. The Edwardian material is laden with obvious shades and cancel potential. The balance of a consignment, as received. Estimate = $150.00 $34.00
Great Britain Overseas Offices - A quintet of Vario-brand black stockpages contains a very nice group of overprinted mint and used issues from late QV to early QEII. Besides being clean and attractive (with very little duplication), this group is well laid-out with the consignor having identified them by Scott. Between the different offices, currencies and catalogue structure, these can be difficult issues to keep straight. Includes Levant, Turkey, Middle East Forces, Morocco, Tangier and Tripolitania. Owner’s older 2021 Scott US$657.95 = $888.23 $190.00
Great Britain, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man - Bankers box filled with mostly mint (and some used) collections, dealer stock, collector duplicates, some clean and organized, some a bit chaotic. Remarkably evenly split between the four issuing bodies. The Great Britain includes a good run of 20th century mint on black stockpages and an old biscuit tin filled with envelopes of used material. Jersey and Isle of Man are each represented by an album with pages into the 1980’s, with Jersey being supplemented with a mostly mint dealer’s wholesale stock. Guernsey is found on assorted pages. Significant original cost and a catalogue value that would add up quickly. Estimate = $150.00 $80.00
Greenland #1/409a. Great Greenland Grab Bag! The balance of a fascinating consignment, with a few distinct components. There are three sets of random album pages with mostly mint stamps from 1938-1970’s, a group of glassine envelopes with scattered "new issues" from the 1980’s-1990's (as purchased, including some souvenir sheets), a couple of glassines of used stamps bought from dealers and Post Office packs (1986, 1987-year sets and a couple Whale issue packs in different languages). While there are no examples from the "American" issue here, there is a nice offering of the various reprinted Polar Bear issues including sheetlets and two sets of three complete perforated reprint sheets. In case you needed a cherry on top, there is a page of Thule labels (both unused and cancelled). A couple of faults are noted, but most are in excellent condition. Estimate = $180.00 $80.00
Greenland #1-9, 10-18, 28-36, 39-40. Select group of four complete mint sets from the 1938-1956 period, all are Never Hinged with the exception of #10-18 which is Lightly Hinged. A very clean offering, all showcased on a single Vario brand stocksheet. 2024 Scott US$457.40 = $617.50 $80.00
Guernsey #226a/690. Clean and balanced stock of 18 different souvenir sheets and mini-panes in used wholesale quantities (usually 50 of a type), with circular date stamp (most are favour cancelled). Issued between 1981-1999 and often missed by collectors at the time, these are not found in most dealers’ inventories. Lots of interesting topical interest here. 2023 Scott US$3556.50 = $4,801.28 $270.00
Hong Kong - Balance of a collection, starting with three black stockpages that are strong in QV issues, with some "Treaty Port" cancels, revalues with a surprising number of perfins. The 20th century issues are a scattering of definitives and commemoratives up to the mid-1990’s. These stockpages are followed by a 16-page Uni-Safe stockbook that is mostly mint, with issues from 1997 until the early 2000’s, including souvenir sheets, panes, complete booklets and a Frama issue. The condition of the early material is mixed, but the more recent issues is excellent. Estimate = $150.00 $75.00
Hong Kong - Red Lighthouse stockbook with 16 pages of used British-rule issues, with strength in QV including some Treaty Port cancels. The group includes used early issues from an old ruled-line notebook (noted a Jubilee overprint here), some mixed mint and used, a few covers and a couple of China-era issues (such as a presentation folder for the 2002 World Cup). Unchecked for varieties and with better postmarks to be found. Estimate = $130.00 $150.00
Hong Kong - Trio of 16-page stockbooks with an eclectic run of mint and (mostly) used Hong Kong with significant cancel interest. There are a few earlier issues including some "Treaty Ports" cancellations, but the strength is in Elizabethan issues, with a good match of definitives, commemoratives, "back of the book" (including a good run of “Contract Note” revenues) and a few covers to spice things up. One of the books is exclusively a QEII circular date stamp collection with cancels from many different Post Offices, each identified with a small typed note. You can ignore the couple of pages of stamps from other Commonwealth countries that live in the middle of one of the books, included as part of the consignment. Happy hunting! Estimate = $150.00 $120.00
Iceland #1/1126 plus Back of the Book. The enticing remainder of an Icelandic collection that we have been breaking up over the past few months. There is lots of great value with better such as some early "Shields", 1930 Parliament, 1940’s commemoratives, overprints, "back of the book" (e.g. 1931 Zeppelin overprint, semi-postals, airmails, officials). This lot also includes the little bit of "dubious" material that was in the collection, including forged cancels on early regular and official issues and the bit of material that was in poor condition (almost all in the 19th century). Expect the mint stamps to be Hinged in this bit haphazardly mounted grouping, but we estimated the catalogue value of the "solid" material to be about $1300.00 and the "other" material would easily catalogue a couple thousand dollars (and is not considered in our estimated value). Estimate = $200.00 $95.00
Iceland #C4-C8, C15-C20, C21-C26, C27-C29, C30-C31. Quintet of complete mint Hinged airmail sets, including the 1930 Pictorial series (including Parliament Millenary, Volcano and Fishing Boat), the 1934 series depicting two different "plane over" views as well as the "Map of Iceland", the 1947 "Aerial View of Reykjavik", the 1952 & 1959 sets. A group of five "back of the book" sets. 2024 Scott US$307.25 = $414.80 $55.00
India #19/710 plus Back of the Book. Emerging as a most popular collecting area, most of the Indian material that we see is used. However, this collection is mint, with many complete sets (especially in the 1950-1975 period). Better includes #19, 60-71, 129-134, 237-242, 254-271, C1-C6 and three souvenir sheets (INDIPEX ’73, UPU ’74 and "Masks" 1974). Items are a mix of Hinged and Never Hinged, with an overall fresh appearance. Includes a few hundred stamps, no duplication. Significant catalogue value here. Estimate = $300.00 $110.00
India #203-206. VF mint Never Hinged choice set commemorating what would have been the 80th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, issued 1949 in memorial a year after his death. Lovely, clean and Post Office fresh. A couple minor gum bends, mentioned for the record (not affecting the stamps in any way). A beautiful example of this Key GeoVI era issue. 2024 Scott US$557.50 = $752.65 $130.00
India #207-221. Almost complete mint 1949 definitive set, missing only the high value (which isn’t the key value in the set). The 12 stamps up to the 1-rupee value are all Never Hinged and the 2r, 5r and 10r are all Lightly Hinged. Stamps are well centered, with nice perforations and Post Office fresh colours. 2023 Scott US$313.70 = $423.50 $70.00
India - Specialized collection of Squared Circle postmarks on 50 covers / cards, neatly arranged on Lighthouse brand stocksheets. An all-Victorian era selection, with quality of strikes being well above average, often in conjunction with other postmarks including "Sea Post Office". We noted many better, including foreign destinations such as Germany, UK, Ireland and Italy. Ex. Ted Kerzner collection, with many still being in the original sleeve from when purchased. A wonderful opportunity for the India / Squared Circle collector. Estimate = $300.00 $210.00
Ireland #1/1641 plus Back of the Book. Your chance to relive St. Patrick’s Day! For those who love to dig into old collections, dealer stocks and retired approval booklets, this lot has it all! The dealer’s stock is individually sorted into #5 sized glassines and in a homemade box, with both mint and used and up to 50 copies of each stamp. The sales cards and retired circuit books cover the overprint issues (a very attractive 2/6 mint Seahorse has a horizontal crease, barely visible from the front) and some better singles though to the early 1970’s. There is a mounted mint (Hinged) collection with near-complete coverage from 1973-1988 (catalogued US$528.90 in 2018). The final item worthy of special mention is a used block of the 10€ "Shelduck" issue. Estimate = $200.00 $130.00
Ireland #96-98. VF mint Never Hinged 1937 issue "St. Patrick and Paschal Fire" high value set of three (Wmk. 44). Post Office fresh and pristine gum, seldom seen in this high-quality condition. 2024 Scott US$750.00 = $1,012.50 $150.00
Isle of Man #20/655. Bits of a disorganized collection of mint Never Hinged issues from 1973-1996 on 15 manila stockpages. Lots of sets, se-tenant strips, souvenir sheets, sheetlets and the "Mutiny on the Bounty" complete booklet. Terrific historical and topical themes and some high face values (individual stamps up to £5.00). Overall, the condition is excellent. 2023 Scott US$724.50 = $978.08 $80.00
Italian States - Stockpage of assorted pre-Republic issues with mint, used and even a block. Only a couple of dubious items here (as often seen for this type of material), but contrasted with a couple that have guarantee signatures on the reverse. Material from several states, and lots of catalogue value here, with above average condition. In addition, there is a set of six stamps described by another auction house as being "Sardinian Essays". Bring your critical eye to this lot, as there will be value around every corner for the keen philatelic eye. Estimate = $150.00 $120.00
Italy and Colonies, San Marino, Vatican - Maybe "Italy and friends" would have been a better opener. This very interesting bundle of wayward auction purchases includes mounted collections of early to mid-century Italy, San Marino and the Vatican. This is followed by stock cards and pages with better sets and singles from Libya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Tripolitania, Campione, and a nice group of post-war Trieste "FTT" overprints. Easily $1000.00 in catalogue value here, not counting the few "dubious, but appealing" items that we noted. Estimate = $180.00 $120.00
Japan - First Day Cover Collection. A compact small box containing an absolutely enticing offering of 320 Japanese First Day Covers from the 1950's to 1970's, with strength in the 1950's material. The FDC are almost entirely with illustrated cachet, including better sets and singles. There are a few "fronts only", not counted in the total but mentioned for the record. Seldom offered in quantity, a great opportunity for the collector of Japanese FDC or re-seller, as these are almost always only offered as "singles" online. Estimate = $250.00 $280.00
Japan - Small handful of material with a wide range of useful stamps from a collection that we are breaking up. Includes 2 copies of #479 "Moon and Geese" Lightly Hinged, one with bends (cat $150.00 each). There are a couple of black stockpages with an attractive used group of 19th century classics, a sheet of #362, a page of Ryukyus, a page of modern used and then a group of 50 and 100 yen mint stamps in sheetlets of 10 or 20. The total face value on the mint sheets alone is Y22,000 ($198.00 CDN). Estimate = $250.00 $110.00
Korea #108/567a. A couple of early mint sets and souvenir sheets (e.g. #108 block, #174-171, 293a, 297a) followed by a group of around 70 different 1960’s souvenir sheets, most of which are postally used, not the "cancelled to order" sheets that are more regularly seen. Includes better like #433a, 545a, 567a, but it is a very complete run, missing only a few. Individually identified in their own glassine envelope. 2023 Scott US$607.75 = $896.06 $75.00
Korea #494a/679a. Wholesale mint souvenir sheets from the 1960’s. Up to about 20 of a type, but not many complete sets. About 150 souvenir sheets in total, perfect for circuit book or online sales. 2023 Scott US$1016.50 = $1,372.28 $65.00
Korea / North Korea #3/1885 plus Back of the Book, 435/2973. A small box filled with a worthwhile collection or stock of mint and used Korean peninsula material, each stored and identified in its own glassine. Includes a number of better earlies, with catalogue values up to $65.00 and some mint souvenir sheets. There is a bit of duplication in some, but not more than 35 of a type. Great way to build a collection, a stock, circuit books etc. Estimate = $150.00 $70.00
Korea DPR - Dealer's stock of 2013 North Korean Post Office issued Propaganda maximum cards, FDC and postal stationery. A total of 257 items, being 9 individually different with duplication from 5 to 74 of each. All neatly packed away in bundles, which we have removed one of each type to photograph. While we are calling this "dealer stock", this group was actually ordered by a collector directly from Korea with investment in-mind, but would actually suit a dealer much better. Can't say we get much of this type of material in regularly! Estimate = $150.00 $40.00
Laos - Valuable but messy group of approximately 100 homemade album pages, containing 1950's to 1980's mint and used, with singles, sets, souvenir sheets, imperforates and even a presentation folder. The majority of the mint is Never Hinged, with mounts be added throughout. While this grouping need to be remounted and sorted, there is a ton of value throughout. Estimate = $180.00 $110.00
Libya #C14-C18. Very Fine mint Hinged 1934 issue "Eighth Sample Fair" airmail set of five. A great set from the time that Italy was a world leader in aviation and exerting great colonial influence in the African continent. 2024 Scott US$487.00 = $647.45 $180.00
Macao #125a. The 1894 stamp revalued in 1902 and then used bisected in 1910 (on piece x47). Scott only prices this item as a cover at $57.50 each. Our older Yang catalogues these on piece at HK$200.00 each, so the 47 examples on piece here will have significant value, no matter how you look at it. A great study lot with nice Macau circular date stamp cancels of the correct vintage. Estimate = $200.00 $90.00
Malaysia, Malaya and States - A pair of "King" 48-page stockbooks (one red, one crimson), with a wide assortment of mostly used Malaysia, Straits Settlements, Malayan States, Brunei, etc. There is also a mint and used mounted collection of Brunei (most 1962-1984) with a 2023 Scott catalogue value $350.00 alone. We noted some Sarawak, a Labuan overprint on an 8c North Borneo then overprinted "SPECIMEN" and a GeoVI "Penang" mint set (with a few short perfs). As received from the consignor. Huge research potential here. Estimate = $170.00 $100.00
Mexico #801-804, C148-152. Complete set of MNH Sheets of 25 from the 1945 "Reconstruction of the Peace Theatre" series. The theatre, built in the 1890’s in the French avant-garde architectural style underwent a major restoration which was finished in 1949. A nice set of sheets with great eye-appeal. 2023 Scott US$1291.25 = $1,743.20 $130.00
Netherlands #51-54. Choice CDS cancel used set of the 1893-1896 Princess Wilhelmina issue, including the seldom seen bronze-green & red 5g high-value. A lovely set. 2024 Scott US$592.50 = $799.90 $230.00
Netherlands #90-101. Complete F/VF used CDS cancel set of the 1913 "Centenary of Dutch Independence" issue. Hard to get complete and in as nice condition as this offering. 2024 Scott US$889.75 = $1,201.15 $190.00
Netherlands #105. Fine mint Never Hinged example of the 1920 issued 2.50g overprint on the 10g Queen Wilhelmina stamp (originally issued in 1913). 2024 Scott Classic US$400.00 = $540.00 $90.00
Netherlands #123-134. Choice F/VF complete used set of the 1923 "Queen Wilhelmina" dual design series, marking the 25th anniversary of assumption as monarch of the Netherlands. A very clean set. 2024 Scott US$389.35 = $525.60 $80.00
Netherlands - Postal History selection. A cigar box, filled with 96 covers and postcards including many better items such as registered, rates to Canada / USA, Paquebot (ship mail), first flight covers, FDC (including earlier), balloon mail etc. A nice clean offering of items, some of the earlier FDC would add up quickly in catalogue value if using the Netherlands specialized catalogue. Estimate = $120.00 $65.00
Netherlands and Colonies - Collection in Minkus Album. Decently filled Minkus Netherlands printed album with pages to 1983 containing mint and used stamps, souvenir sheets and booklet panes from Netherlands proper, Netherlands Antilles and Netherlands Indies. Rough inventory notes included. Owner's Scott $2,082.50 = $2,811.40 $120.00
Netherlands Colonies / Netherlands - Antilles and Suriname strong accumulation, with some New Guinea, Curacao and even a touch of Netherlands stamps making an appearance. Mostly auction lots, with a bit of dealer pages, all untouched after purchasing. Noted better sets up to about $100.00 catalogue value and several good runs of stamps throughout. Expect some duplication, and the occasional minor fault, but overall a very clean offering. There is even an empty but new DAVO Antilles album with hingeless pages for just souvenir sheets (up to 2004). Significant opportunity here to expand your collection. Estimate = $180.00 $120.00
New Zealand #9/1546. Collection / accumulation contained in Lightghouse 3-ring deluxe album (with matching slipcase) containing 65 Vario-brand pages (most 7 or 8 strips). Starting with a motley crew of 5 "Chalons", moving onto the "Sideface" issues and then lots of the "Pictorial" issue definitive issues (many of which seem to have been selected for their cancel). There is a mint set of the Edward VII (catalogue US$290.00), a quality groupings of GeoV definitives to 1/-, Victory issue, 1935 series and Centennial material. The lot runs up to 1995 issues, with the latter half being more mint than used. The album and pages alone would easily cost $200.00 originally. Estimate = $240.00 $100.00
New Zealand #99/131D. A "Commerce" and "Dominion" 1p carmine study group on two stockpages. Beginning with a used single of the "Shackleton Expedition" overprint "King Edward VII Land" (#121A) followed by a fresh Never Hinged block of the "Victoria Land." overprint (#131D) and a mint single with the scarce selvage ad for "Kaitangata Coal" (listed in Campbell Paterson as a pair for NZ$600). This is supported by 80 unchecked used singles from issues known for many printings, varieties and cancel interest (there is a nice pair with a "Loose Letter" box cancel). 2023 Scott for the two overprinted pieces US$367.50 alone! Estimate = $160.00 $180.00
New Zealand #B1/, C1/C8, O24/O93 plus other Back of the Book. Accumulation of a few hundred, mostly used "back of the book" pleasingly mounted on 13 Vario-brand stockpages. Notable is a mint copy of C1a (catalogues $150.00), as well as early "Health" semi-postals B1 (used), a number of "Children at Play" B14-B19, used officials, a dozen or so "Newspaper" stamps (minimum catalogue $47.50 each), a few postal-fiscals and even some revenues. There is more used than mint, and moderate duplication at times, usually amongst more common items. Great for both dealers and collectors. Estimate = $140.00 $34.00
New Zealand #O76-86. From a collector that was fascinated with the 1940 Centennial set overprinted official. This lot includes a mounted collection of 7 of the denominations in mint blocks of 4 (2 or 3 stamps are Never Hinged), followed by six attractive used blocks, including 2 inscription blocks. This reasonable approach was quickly followed by a number of envelopes with bulk quantities (typically a couple hundred used singles) of most of the denominations in the set. A few miscellaneous other items seem to pale in comparison but are included in the lot. The Scott catalogue value will easily be a few thousand dollars. Estimate = $150.00 $38.00
New Zealand - Stanley Gibbons album with 4-ring pages up to 1979. There isn’t much pre-QEII, but is quite solid from 1946 onwards and after 1970 the stamps are mostly mint in collector added clear mounts. The best part of the collection is probably the Health issues, including over a dozen mostly mint souvenir sheets. To help advance your specialized knowledge of kiwi material, there is a bulging Campbell Paterson catalogue with pages up to about 1990. While the prices may have changed, the knowledge and illustrations that it contains is still reasonably current, especially for pre-1950 issues (a new catalogue will cost you over $200.00!). Estimate = $150.00 $100.00
New Zealand - Used and mint accumulation, includes a 16 black page Uni-Safe stockbook with a nice used collection, starting with a QV "Chalon", some attractive QV, EdwardVII and GeoV issues and then hit or miss until the 1990’s. This is supported with a loosely arranged group of dealer cards (noted 3/- Official O111 and a strip of three of the 1935 2 1/2d) along with a small but dense group of used QV issues, including values to 8d. The lot concludes with a group of album and manila pages with primarily 1930-1965 material, including some mint blocks. Chaos here, but possible treasures, too. Estimate = $130.00 $70.00
Philippines #500/1327. Duo of mounted collections. The first part is a "Adbon’s" album for Republic issues with pages up to 1975, including a few hundred stamps, strongest in mint after 1965. A very attractive and informative album. The second collection is a more substantial mint offering from 1948-1977, including lots of sets, some "back of the book" and a good offering of souvenir sheets. There are a number of issues that include both perforated and imperforate examples. A bit of duplication here and between the two collections as their coverage period has significant overlap. A great way to start collecting this often overlooked corner of Asia. Estimate = $140.00 $80.00
Poland #11/1609, B9/B110, C1/C51, CB1-CB1a, J13/J144 & General Government & Offices in Gdansk. An extensive collection of the Republic issues of 1918 up to about 1967 in a 2-post Scott Specialty (vinyl) binder. Includes a good range of early overprinted issues, both mint and used. A bit hit or miss at times, but many better individual stamps up to $60.00 catalogue value. Lots of better souvenir sheets, including the 1962 World Ski Championships sheets (set of 3 which catalogue $200.00) and many other cataloguing up to $45.00 each. There are a number of sheetlets of the 1960’s sports and art issues. The semi-postals are well represented, including many of the better souvenir sheets. The "back of the book" continues to be strong with airmail, postage due, officials, General Government and Offices in Gdansk. Album in good condition (with many glassine interleaves) which keep these stamps fresh and with very few faults. A mix of mint and used issues. Expect the mint to be Hinged. Not your usual Polish lot. Estimate = $350.00 $375.00
Poland #2461/2902, B142/B147. Wholesale lot of mid-1980’s mint sets and singles, with up to 20 of a type, all mint Never Hinged in "102" cards, nicely protected in an old plastic pencil box. The coverage is a bit mixed, but perfectly suited for topical collectors, with flowers, sports, animals seen throughout. You don’t often see stocks from this era. Perfect for filling in holes and for online sale. 2023 Scott US$390.40 = $527.04 $55.00
Poland - Eclectic accumulation with absolutely no discernible theme. Noted some Government in Exile issues of 1941 (singles, Lightly Hinged) and blocks of 4 (Never Hinged) - apparently only 85,000 sets printed, plus a set of sealing labels of which apparently print quantities were under 10,000 of a type. There is a set of 1939 "Gordon Bennet" balloon post labels, a page of "locals" including some listed as forgeries and a revalued bisect tied to piece. Finally, we start getting to regular issued stamps, including four souvenir sheets and then a couple hundred "102" cards with used stamps between Scott #261/2485. Like we said up front: "eclectic", but lots of value throughout. Estimate = $150.00 $60.00
Poland - Small box with over 500 philatelically inspired covers from the 1950's to 1980, being a philatelic correspondence to a collector in the United States. A wide range of colourful frankings and rates throughout, including registered and airmail. The stamps alone would add up quickly. This lot was originally purchased by the consignor in the 1990's and has not been opened in the past 30 years! Estimate = $150.00 $170.00
Portugal and Colonies - A small, mounted collection of older Portugal, followed by a "tourist" booklet of stamps and a page of more modern issues gives way to a nice mounted collection of Timor, a smaller offering of Angola, a number of other colonies represented on 1 to 8 mounted pages and a small handful of glassine envelopes of pre-1960 mint and used material from the Colonies. Solid value here, along with some discovery potential. Estimate = $150.00 $130.00
Romania #19/47. Nine stockcards containing 70 classic Romanian stamps. A mix of mint and used Moldovia-Walachia Coat of Arms and King Carol I issues, each individually identified and priced by the owner. Includes a couple on piece tied by cancels (includes a pair of #30 - catalogues US$575.00 each) and duplicated with up to 10 stamps of a type. These issues are notorious for reprints and forgeries (including the cancellations), so bring your expert eye, sold as-is. 2023 Scott US$4516.00 = $6,096.60 $170.00
Russia / Soviet Union #31/5212. Three-ring binder with an extensive collection of mostly post-war Soviet Union issues on over 70 Vario-brand stockpages, manila stockpages and other pouches. Includes mint, used (CTO), lots of souvenir sheets, a couple of small presentation folders and even some maxi-cards and other covers. There are thousands of stamps, starting a bit lightly in the Czarist period up to the 1950’s, with some potentially better along the way. The group really gets strong from the 1960’s into the mid-1980’s, with lots of complete sets, along with the matching souvenir sheet (some are identified by Scott to help ease the sorting process). There is a bit of duplication, but the value will add up here quickly, including for topical collectors. The estimate here barely covers the retail value of the stockpages alone! Estimate = $150.00 $65.00
Saint Helena #4/222. Used selection on black stockpage featuring a nice range of QV issues with lots of overprint and some attractive cork cancels. There are some later issues with a scattered offering up to 1968 and including bit of minor duplication. Expect a bit of mixed condition in the earlier issues, but overall, a cleaner-than-usual lot of this mid-Atlantic favourite. 2023 Scott US$942.40 = $1,282.24 $190.00
Saint Helena #11/231. Mint assortment on black stockpage with a couple of dozen QV issues (the stamps with no gum are inverted) and a smattering of mostly lower values from KEVII to the mid QEII period. A very fresh-looking group. The level of hinging ranges from light to heavy, but only a couple of minor faults are noted. Better includes #11, 12, #15 & 25 (both no gum), #26, #29 (x2, both no gum). 2023 Scott US$1315.65 = $1,776.13 $210.00
Saint Pierre and Miquelon #30/342, B4/B14, J83-J92. Nice page of about 70, mostly mint stamps. Lots of overprints and revaluations on the early issues, jumping thirty years to the St. Malo Schooner issue and missing only a couple values from the 1947 issue. The "back of the book" includes some of the French Revolution issue, as well as the last postage due set. Expect the mint to be Hinged, but centering is better than usual and all have a very fresh appearance. 2023 Scott US$336.90 = $454.82 $90.00
Samoa #10/215. New Zealand administration era (nothing from the German period), mostly mint collection on black stockpages. Most have been identified by the previous owner, with some nice overprints on the "Palm Tree" issue, with some good-looking overprints on New Zealand issues, such as EdwardVII, postal fiscals, GeoV definitives, Peace Issue, Admiral high values and a few of Samoa's first "independent" sets. Most are fresher than usually seen, but most are Hinged (a couple may have no gum). The two early "Express" stamps and the few used stamps are not counted in the total catalogue value. Total 2023 Scott US$490.80 = $662.58 $150.00
South Africa #1/1074a. We don’t see these great collections of mint and used South African like we used to. Starts with some attractive 1920’s-1930’s singles and pairs, many of the better identified by the owner (noted a mint hinged pairs of #30, 54, 65, 67). There are some JIPEX booklet panes with different ads and the “back of the book” is well represented with postage dues and officials. The collection becomes a little less spectacular in the 1960’s-1970’s but bounces back in the 1980’s-1990’s with lots of sets, blocks and souvenir sheets. Didn’t see much after 1998. The owner’s catalogue value is a few years old and was quite accurate for the time. A spot check indicates that some values have risen while others have dropped a bit, so take that into consideration when bidding. Owner’s older Scott US$1324.45 = $1,788.01 $140.00
South Africa #40. Dual language pair of 4d "Native Kraal" in the reddish-brown shade (mint, the tiniest of Hinge Remnant between the two stamps). Includes a pair of the other shade (brown), for reference. Fresh, and reasonably centered. One of the key values from the re-drawn 1930-1945 set. 2023 Scott US$325.00 = $438.75 $36.00
South Africa - South Africa #1/108, B2-B3, O7, O24; South West Africa #32/162, B9-B11, C5. Issues from 1910-1950, both mint Hinged and used (some both), all laid out on Hagner brand stock sheets. The first two pages of South Africa contain se-tenant pairs (where applicable) while the third page contains single stamp pairs as well as the odd single. The fourth page contains only se-tenant pairs, (or triples, as applicable) or singles, of post 1937 issues. Page 5 shows se-tenant pairs of South West Africa while page 6 shows single stamps, many of which are combined in pairs. Some catalogue numbers are shown to assist in identifying. An excellent representative group to give a meaningful start to a comprehensive collection of this most interesting area of collecting. Owner's 2023 Scott $543.75 = $734.10 $110.00
United Nations - Pair of Minkus albums with pages up to the end of 1998, looks to be a complete run of basic issues, including Geneva and Vienna (but missing souvenir sheet #38). Most are singles, but a few souvenir sheets and sheetlets are noted (e.g. flags to 32c, International Year of the Ocean, UN 50th Anniversary, etc.) Stamps appear to be mint Never Hinged and are housed in professional looking black mounts. The issues from the 1990’s started to have increasing frequency and face value, plus collectors on subscription service were often obligated to buy more than the basic issues, leading to many dropping their service. Subsequently these issues are harder to find than in the UN’s glory days. Lot includes some loose leftovers, including duplicates, more "new issue" glassines, a few first day covers, some unused postal stationery and a couple of presentation folders. Fifty years of coverage in one lot! Estimate = $140.00 $60.00
USA #145-155. Complete set of 11 of the 1870-1871 issues, used with a few small perf faults on most of the set. The 24c purple has a straight edge at the right side and 30c black image offset high with adjoining stamp below visible. There is a heavy cancel of the 90c carmine. All identified and valued by the consignor. Owner's 2018 Scott US$1,425.00 = $1,923.75 $325.00
USA #146/1870. Used collection of 1,582 stamps, 1870 to 1984 period regular issues (no "Back of the Book"). All in black mounts and neatly arranged on quadrille album pages. Somewhat thin and in mixed condition in the early material (expect faults) but the collection becomes more comprehensive as the material becomes more recent. Didn't see any individual items of particular note but the collection still represents a good start to a used US collection. Owner's 2024 Scott US$2,120.65 = $2,862.90 $210.00
USA #219/229. Mixed condition group of 1890-93 issues, all perf 12 x 12. All identified, graded and valued by the consignor. The lot includes the 1c dull blue (used); 2c lake (no gum); 3c purple (mint); 4c dark brown (mint); 5c chocolate (mint & used); 8c brown red (mint); 10c green (mint); and 90c orange (used). Most stamps have small perf faults and the 10c green has a straight left side. Owner's 2018 Scott US$1,561.00 = $2,107.35 $42.00
USA #230-238. A "short set" of 1c to 15c values from the 1893 Columbian Exposition issue, consisting of; the 1c deep blue (mint disturbed gum); 2c brown violet (mint Never Hinged & used), 3c green (mint Hinged); 4c ultramarine (mint Never Hinged); 5c chocolate (used, heavy cancel); 6c purple (mint Never Hinged); 8c magenta (mint Hinged); 10c black brown (used); and 15c dark green (mint with damaged perfs top left). 2024 Scott US$646.60 = $872.80 $30.00
USA #260. Fresh and Fine/Very Fine mint Hinged example of the 1894 issue 50c orange Jefferson, unwatermarked. 2024 Scott US$475.00 = $641.25 $150.00
USA #285-292. Mixed mint and used part set of eight 1898 Trans-Mississippi Exposition issues. The lot consists of the 1c dark yellow green (used); 2c copper red (used); 4c orange (mint disturbed gum); 5c dull blue (used); 8c violet brown (used); 10c gray violet (mint OG HR); 50c sage green (used heavy cancel); and $1.00 black (used). 2024 Scott CV US$1,206.25 = $1,628.45 $180.00
USA #348, 351. Fine mint Never Hinged pairs of the 1908 issue 1c green Franklin and 1909 issue 5c blue Washington perf 12 (horizontal) coils. Note some minor perf separation on the 1c value (handle with care). 2024 Scott US$1075.00 = $1,451.25 $210.00
USA #658-668, 669-679. Complete used 1929 issue Kansas and Nebraska overprinted sets of 11. These two series of definitives were overprinted as an experiment to reduce the reuse of postage stamps that had already gone through the post. The odd small fault to be expected but in general a Fine and sound offering. 2024 Scott US$339.20 = $457.90 $250.00
USA #2106/4024. Used collection of over 1,600 stamps, consisting of October 1984 to April 2006 period regular issues (no "Back of the Book"). All in black mounts and neatly arranged on quadrille album pages. Comprehensive and clean! Owner's 2024 Scott US$545.60 = $736.55 $110.00
USA #4018/4951. Used collection of over 800 stamps, consisting of March 2006 to December 2014 period regular issues (no "Back of the Book"). All in black mounts and neatly arranged on quadrille album pages. Owner's 2024 Scott US$407.65 = $550.35 $260.00
USA #4717/5153. All mint December 2012 to November 2016 period collection of 300 stamps, housed in in black mounts and all neatly laid out on quadrille album pages. Noted face values to $22.95 and a large number of "Forever" stamps in the mix. The vast majority of the stamps in the collection are the self-adhesive die-cut type that have had the backing removed and with the gum either dried out or washed off. Otherwise the stamps are all sound and Very Fine. The total face value must be in the US$300.00 range. 2024 Scott US$689.55 = $930.90 $260.00
USA #C1/C71, CE1-CE2. Comprehensive all mint Hinged/Never Hinged 1918 to 1967 period airmail collection, all in mounts on Minkus album pages. The better Never Hinged stamps include #C1, C5, C13, C14 and C18. 2024 Scott US$1,966.30 = $2,654.50 $675.00
USA - A wild ride of a bundle of consignment leftovers. Almost all 20th century, starting with a bundle of blocks (sometimes larger) of 1920’s-1930’s "reds" and "blues", National Parks, etc. (owner catalogued at $340.00 in 2014). There is a mint set of the "Nebr." overprints, some unopened "Celebrate the Century" packs, a couple year sets, cigar box with bundles of mid-century stamps and some used blocks of higher denomination postage dues. There are stashes of Pacific Islands (e.g. Micronesia, Marshall Islands and Palau), plus a bunch of other material. A neat group in need of a sort. Estimate = $180.00 $130.00
USA - Back of the Book Accumulation. Blue stock book containing several hundred mostly used stamps, including regular issues, airmails, postage dues, officials, revenues, newspaper stamps, officially sealed labels, locals, army franks, telegraphs, patent medicine, and many more types. An unusual and interesting group for the collector tired of more regular fare. Estimate = $200.00 $130.00
USA - Box received from an estate, reasonably grouped into four parts. The first being a small shoebox filled with a few hundred glassines containing mint blocks and plate blocks from the 3c-10c era, including airmail issues. The second part is a small group of black stockpages with more of the same, but including some slightly better, like Prexies to 25c. The third part is a 1980’s-1990’s assortment of "alphabet" stamps ("B", "D", "F", "G", "H") in various sized blocks and booklets, including the makeup stamps plus a bit of denominated material. There are some stamps in here that might be impossible to use (e.g. pre-sorted, non-profit, precancels), and there will be the odd used stamp that tumbled out of the original container. Finally, in a more compact box, there is an uncounted group of mint "postage". Well worth the estimated value. Estimate = $150.00 $120.00
USA - Copy paper box filled with collection remnants, stockpages (including a few dozen Vario-brand pages), and miscellaneous material, including a healthy amount of "back of the book". Strength is definitely from the 20th century, with more used than mint. There are bits and pieces of postage to be found throughout, and some oddities here and there. A sorter’s delight. Estimate = $120.00 $32.00
USA - Definitive-heavy accumulation starting with two pages of 19th century used singles (plus a reprint of the Franklin "Carriers Stamp" (damaged), some nice cancels and unchecked for printings. This is followed by a trio of Uni-Safe stockbooks (2x 32-page with blue covers, 1x 16-page with black covers), holding thousands of 20th century issues up to about 2007, including a cover here and there. There is a small red Uni-Safe stockbook with "back of the book", including airmail, postage due, parcel post, parcel post postage dues, Canal Zone and United Nations. Finally, there is a small bundle of dealer cards and a few mint sheetlets or presentation cards. Lots of material to sift through here. Estimate = $150.00 $32.00
USA - Canal Zone - Specialized Postal History offering of 47 covers / cards 1906-1978, all neatly mounted on pages within a binder. Noted many better items including multiple items of ship mail, airmail rate covers, registered, customs, FDC, picture postcards, postal stationery and even a few stamps (including a "stamp portfolio"). A total of 46 items, not including the smattering of stamps. Seldom seen material. Estimate = $130.00 $325.00
USA / United Nations - Souvenir Card Stockpile. VF quality (many still in the original mailing envelopes) hoard of mostly USPO stamp and banknote cards, with heavy duplication of some but with a very decent range of issues (alas none of the rare earlies) noted. There are 476 US cards in total, 394 United Nations cards, as well as 62 UN FDCs, 72 UN souvenir folders plus a smattering of sundry stuff. Most of the cards are listed and priced in Scott US Specialized catalogue. A great lot for the eBay wholesaler. Estimate = $200.00 $32.00
Vatican City #9/446. A near complete run of mint Vatican issues from 1929-1966 including the "back of the book" for that period (semi-postals, airmails, special delivery, postage dues) and a couple of souvenir sheets. Fresh, Hinged and mounted in clear “crystal mounts” that have lost their adhesion to the pages, so remounting is recommended. Some notable items include the 1933 definitives, the better 1930's "Congresses" issue and the1952 "Roman States" souvenir sheet is in good condition. Lot concludes with 39 cacheted First Day Covers (1957-1965), not counted in the total catalogue value. 2023 Scott US$1410.70 = $1,904.45 $100.00
Wallis and Futuna #94/124. Mint Never Hinged group of New Caledonia issues overprinted for Wallis and Futuna and subsequently re-overprinted "France Libre" to promote the resistance to German occupation of France in World War II. This wholesale group includes 27 of the 33 stamps from this set, missing the two high denomination issues as well as the four better values scattered throughout the set. Nice and fresh as originally packaged by Bileski, including his contemporary note. Each package has a catalogue value of $102.75. One set on cards, 14 more sets in original glassines. Total 2023 Scott US$1541.25 = $2,080.69 $120.00
Worldwide - A "Dune"-tastic collection with Fujeira, Ajman, Sharjah, Ras al Khaima and Manama. This 1960's and 1970's strong collection is arranged on over 60 Vario-brand stockpages (most 3-6 pockets) and filled with colourful "cancelled to order" issues laden with topicals. Includes topicals depicting sports, famous people, space, animals, "stamp on stamp", art (and the list goes on). Attractively laid out, in good condition, with a few small pockets of duplication. Far more accepted now than they were when issued. Housed in a 2" Lighthouse blue binder with matching slipcase. The album and pages alone would have cost the collector almost $100.00 when bought new. Estimate = $140.00 $75.00
Worldwide - A 3-inch binder, filled with about 70 stockpages of various formats, safely containing over 300 mostly different souvenir sheets from across the globe. Significant topical interest (e.g. space, Elvis, orchids, animals, ships, flight, sports, dinosaurs, to name a few). The souvenir sheets themselves are in various size formats and age (most being 1960-2005). We conservatively estimate that the previous owner put over $1000.00 into this holding. The condition is pretty good, with only a couple of faults noted, and will cost you a fraction of the original issue price. Estimate = $200.00 $180.00
Worldwide - A bankers box with the usual, the unusual and the diverse from a large collection that we are offering over the past several sales. No real pattern here, buts lots of interesting stamps throughout (for example, one binder has pages of Palestine, Austria, Canada, Great Britain + more!). There is a big group of about 2500 Romanian stamps on album pages, a sparse Luxembourg album, Germany in a 32-page Lighthouse stockbook, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Russia, a bit of Scandinavia and bits and pieces from all-over. There isn’t a lot of space to spare in this box! Estimate = $200.00 $60.00
Worldwide - A quartet of stockbooks where the albums and stamps need help but are not beyond redemption. The nicest stockbook is a 64-page black page, acetate strip, glassine interleave, dark red cover, with 1980’s-1990’s CTO material from Bulgaria, Romania and St. Thomas and Prince Islands (the last with great topicals in blocks - catalogues $360.00). The other three stockbooks are 16-pagers with a range of classics to about 2000. In no particular order we note: Switzerland, Sweden, Australia (with States), Norway, Russia, Latin America, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, China and India (and there are others, too.) Some of the classics may get your heart racing, but we warn you that condition is really mixed. Still there is interesting cancels, oddities, even the occasional perfin. Estimate = $140.00 $80.00
Worldwide - Another Asian accumulation awaiting attention! If you have a yen for Japan, it might be perhaps the most interesting with a combination of mint sheetlets, some 1980s-1990s "new issues" and a few pages of reprints, reissues and contrivances of some key issues of the late 1940’s-mid 1950’s. There is a page of used Korea, another with 200 different Burma, a presentation booklet from the 1964 UPU meeting in Vienna, a black stockcard has a page of mint Cambodia and 10x mint Never Hinged copies of the Hong Kong $10.00 souvenir sheet #776a (for the 1997 show). Finally, there is a bit of used Macau at 100 copies each and even a reproduced version of original artist art for 1968 North Vietnam stamp #554. Eclectic and interesting! Estimate = $160.00 $85.00
Worldwide - Asia in a diverse and promising group. In no particular order are some North Vietnam, India (overprints for used in Laos), Indonesia, modern Macau, pages of old China, a bundle of miscellaneous dealer cards, a bit of Thailand, some dubious "Bushire" overprints, Philippines, Brunei, some overprinted early China and Korea (the latter with a folded mint sheet of #125a, catalogue US$425.00 and a page of sets and souvenir sheets circa 1967. Value at each turn of the page. Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Asian accumulation. A multiple interest lot which includes Japan, China (including modern PRC), Burma, Macau, India and Indonesia. While there are many items of interest, a couple notables are Lightly Hinged Japan 1938 National Parks souvenir sheet and a Sinkiang China group of 14 official perfins. Almost all are auction lots that were purchased and then set aside. The lot is eclectic, and touches many areas, but nothing really in any depth. An exciting offering, sure to please any collector. Estimate = $200.00 $90.00
Worldwide - Bankers box containing a Europe-heavy group of leftover albums, binders, stock pages and loose dealer purchases. In no particular order we noted Baltic countries, Poland, Poland, Monaco, Germany, Yugoslavia (and its constituents), Norway, Sweden, Bulgaria and non-European countries like Egypt, Afghanistan and other "one-offs" throughout. There is a nice, but sparsely filled Scott Specialty album for "Eastern and Southern Europe" with pages to 1965 for Romania, Montenegro, Trieste (etc.). An eclectic offering that you should find both interesting and worthwhile. Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Bankers Box filled with an assortment of items including an Albania collection, France, the Caribbean, glassines with Bolivia and an American Cup (sailing) collection. After these notable single groups, there is general world assembly in binders, albums, loose pages and handfuls of glassines and #102 cards. Chaos reigns, but there is significant value throughout, as much of this material came from auctions or bid boards in the 1990’s and hasn’t been touched since. Your patience will reward you. Estimate = $200.00 $650.00
Worldwide - Bankers box stuffed with over 15lbs of "Worldwide On-Paper" from seemingly the 1960's to 1990's (with smatterings of material earlier and later). While strong in Canada (as to be expected), there are also strong showings of USA, Great Britain and Republic of South Africa (RSA). Of particular interest is the potential for Canadian postmarks, which there seems to be a larger than usual amount of small town CDS cancels from the 1960's/1970's. Lots of fun ahead sorting this one out. Estimate = $120.00 $28.00
Worldwide - Bankers box with the balance of a dealer stock of mostly European material (no GB or Germany). Stockcards, stockpages, mounted pages and some "free-range" material. Huge scope in terms of geography, time and value. Many stamps are identified, some catalogued, while others await your attention. There is a good batch of Austria, Switzerland and a quantity of Hungary, while everywhere else is fairly lightly covered. Including some material from various Colonies. Lots of value here for the patient sorter. Estimate = $180.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Bankers box, filled with 13 stockbooks (mostly 32-page) of various makes, plus a "Modern" worldwide album (circa 1930), filled with an array of worldwide stamps as assembled by a collector. Each stockbook features a different country (filled to different degrees) with both mint and used stamps. Countries included are Israel, Cook Islands, Ireland, India, Japan, Iran, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany-Berlin, Guernsey, Germany "semi-postals", Germany, East Germany and Worldwide (the "Modern" album"). Many thousands of stamps, a nice bunch to sort, pus a premium group of used stockbooks. Estimate = $200.00 $130.00
Worldwide - Bonkers Banker’s Box with the remnants of a consignment. Truly a worldwide mix, we did note a stockbook with Belgian Congo and Burundi, but after that, there is no real concentration. We did note a couple smaller worldwide albums circa 1950 and lots of stock and album pages (with some promising European on black pages). The wild card here is that about 1/3 of the box is "102" cards, glassines, etc. that the collector re-used, without updating the information. There is tons of 19th and up to the mid-20th century mint and used singles here, with nicer stamps and cancels, but you will have to disassemble everything to figure it out. Perfect for sorting, circuit books and cherry picking! From a collector who wasn’t afraid to spend money, but rarely touched anything after purchasing. Estimate = $200.00 $450.00
Worldwide - Cartonload including Classic Great Britain. U-Haul box packed to the brim with a mix of Canadian, British, US and general worldwide material in folders, albums, stock books and circuit books. The Canadian material is housed in 22 different moderately remaindered RPSC approval books. The heavily duplicated used classic GB is on one stock sheet and has been valued at over US$4,400.00 by the owner using a recent Scott catalogue. The worldwide covers dozens of countries including Vatican, Norway, St. Lucia, Czechoslovakia and USA (including Back of the Book), plus much more. Estimate = $375.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Cinderellas, locals, labels, poster-stamps, revenues, reprints and forgeries. A fascinating group that features only a touch of modern Christmas TB seals here, with the majority being mostly mint, with duplication and some supporting literature. This seemingly random assortment of material includes Lundy Islands, Pan-Am Exhibition 1901 (including the label inspired by Canada’s 1898 Map stamp), Royal Hudson "maxi-cards", Suez Canal Company forgeries, American Letter Mail Co label, McGreely’s Dyea-Skaguay Express, Western Union Telegram frank, French anti-Bolshevik issues, German local posts, FIGAS (UK) freight labels, Columbia Coast Mission stamp, French airmail labels, British Forces in Egypt Xmas seals, a nice block of 9 of "The Scenery Shop (The Thunderbird)" in Vancouver, some Scandinavian Christmas labels and finishes with an irregular partial sheet of the Winnipeg Game and Fish Association "Canada Goose" label (Van Dam MW1 - cat $4.00 each - total about $200.00). Interesting and hard to duplicate! Estimate = $200.00 $150.00
Worldwide - Collector's show / club meeting / dealer purchases, compiled as received into one "pizza box". About half of this offering is mint Never Hinged assembly from across the globe is strongest in mint sets, souvenir sheets and booklets. The other half is a smattering of other material, with both mint and used, sorted into packets and cards awaiting further attention. The focus of the mint material seems to be topical in nature, with art, trains, monuments, Christmas etc. A good quality lot to be sorted out. Estimate = $200.00 $120.00
Worldwide - Compact but enticing archive box (roughly the size of a large shoebox), filled with a wide assortment of mint and used (plus a bit of postal history and other "odds and ends") from a end on consignment clean-up. Notes souvenir sheets, Danish West Indies, Vatican, Schleswig, Marienwerder, Allenstien, Algeria, Australia, France (in a 16-page stockbook) and a wide array of "one of" miscellaneous items. Lots of fun here for the worldwide sorter. Estimate = $130.00 $190.00
Worldwide - Country Packet Palooza. Large "boot box" filled with worldwide off-paper, sorted and semi-sorted in envelopes by country. This mix is MUCH better than we usually see, with a good run of mint and used with better stamps lurking throughout. Many thousands (tens of thousands?) of stamps here, only given a cursory look and totally unpicked from a local estate. Hours of fun ahead and easily worth the estimated value. Estimate = $250.00 $140.00
Worldwide - Disney Topical Collection. A substantial collection of Disney issues from the 1970’s-1980’s, neatly laid out on fifty Vario-brand stockpages (4-6 strips). A clean offering in good condition, with more mint than used and mostly Never Hinged. Duplication up to about 8 of a kind in places. Countries included are Anguilla, Antigua (and with Barbuda), Bhutan, Dominica, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada (and with Grenadines), Guyana, Hungary, Lesotho, Maldives, Mongolia, Palau, Paraguay, Romania, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, San Marino, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turks and Caicos, Union Island, etc. Over 1000 stamps, all housed in a nice blue Lighthouse binder with matching slipcover. The binder with the stockpages would have cost the collector over $100.00 before adding the first stamp! Estimate = $150.00 $130.00
Worldwide - European Classic Group. Almost all used selection of almost exclusively 19th century stamps from Great Britain, France and a range of German States. All identified by the consignor and neatly laid out and identified on five black stock sheets. While the condition may be a bit mixed (expect some faults) there are a good number of better individual items of note including GB #1, 37, 46, 48 (x 2) and 55. Total catalogue value is well over US$2,500.00=$3,375.00 CDN. Estimate = $250.00 $190.00
Worldwide - European Collection in Five Volumes. Mint and used general collections of Western and Eastern Europe plus Scandinavia. All Hinged on quadrille album pages and housed in five 3-ring binders. The Western Europe section includes Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland , UN, Andorra, Greece, Italy, Spain, Liechtenstein, Portugal, San Marino and Spain. The Eastern European section includes Armenia, Bulgaria, Central Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Jugoslavia, Poland, Russia, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. The Scandinavian section includes Greenland, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. While the collection is mainly a "sampler" type, there are thousands of different stamps here and pleasant surprises in the form of better sets and singles can be expected. Estimate = $325.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Four Volume Minkus Master Global A-Z Collection. Several thousand mint and used stamps spread out over the four fat volumes of a Minkus Master Global album set wit pages up to the late 1960s. While the binders may not be in pristine condition and the coverage may be a bit sparse in areas, this lot offers a great repository for your worldwide duplicates and at a low estimate of $50.00 per volume is a bargain well below the original cost of the empty albums alone. Look forward to years of philatelic fun for mere pennies a day! Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Likely the most distinct collections that we have ever had in a single U-Haul box. Starts with a Harris "Citation" album in excellent condition, with thousands of stamps and a single volume collection of USSR/Russia. Then, the balance of the box is filled with no fewer than 15 more albums or stockbooks, all of which have no particular focus but are mostly pre-1960 issues. To fill in the remaining voids are dealer stockcards including some better items. Much of this material has not been looked at in many years. Perfect for the newbie, the worldwide collector, an approval booklets builder or for breaking down for your local stamp club. Estimate = $200.00 $170.00
Worldwide - Perfins and Pre-cancels accumulation, that need rescuing! From several original sources, there is strength in US and Canadian precancels, as well as Canadian perfins, but we note perfins from many different countries including Australia, Great Britain, France etc. While some are nicely mounted on "Vario" brand stockpages, much is found in pages extracted from an old album as well as a small stockbook that is literally falling apart at the seams. Hundreds upon hundreds of stamps, which should prove rewarding after properly sorted and arranged. Estimate = $150.00 $55.00
Worldwide - Range on Album pages and in Stock Books. Worldwide lot intact as received, consisting of (in no particular order): German Colonies/Occupations collection on computer generated pages including German East Africa, German Southwest Africa, Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands, Caroline Islands, Samoa, Kaiuchau, Togo and others (owner’s catalogue US$795.05), over 1,100 duplicated used GB in a stock book; over 900 lightly duplicated mint and used British Commonwealth in a stock book; well organized mint and used US in one stock book; a handful of random First Day Covers. Estimate = $150.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Scandinavia-heavy trio of stockbooks, plus extras. In no particular order is a 32-page Uni-Safe stockbook with mostly used Finland (1985-2008), including a few covers. A brown crackle-finish 16-page Uni-Safe stockbook starts with some old Germany, including some States, but there is some Tasmania, Straits Settlements, classic France, Austria, Turkey, before finishing with two pages of attractive Denmark. The third stockbook includes a bit of Finland, Sweden and Norway mixed among some Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Brazil and Japan. The extras include a 2007 Arctic Year multi-country booklet, and some loose album pages with used Sweden (including some nicer from the 1924 UPU sets) and Finland (up to about 1950). Warning, the 19th century material has some good eye appeal, but the condition is very mixed. This should prove rewarding once sorted out. Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Scouting topical collection on black stockpages in two binders. The first binder is 13 pages tightly filled with sets and singles, followed by several more pages of blocks, souvenir sheets and panes. The second binder starts with another 13 pages of first day and Jamboree covers, ending with a set of stamps and first day covers from Liberia’s large 1979 Scouting issue. Overall, the condition looks excellent, with almost no duplication, from a wide range of countries. Initial assembly cost would have been significant. Estimate = $130.00 $90.00
Worldwide - Semi-sorted off-paper mixtures in several boxes. Some of the boxes contain single country material such as Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Norway, Brazil, Australia, Great Britain (one "regular", one "regionals", followed by two boxes with stamps sorted by country into individual envelopes. Thousands of stamps here, most are 20th century, almost all are used, with some medium values seen, and some possible cancel potential. Thousands of stamps fill most of a U-Haul box. Estimate = $130.00 $42.00
Worldwide - South America, Asia, Africa and Middle East in Four Volumes. Mint and used "sampler" collection of thousands, all hinged on quadrille pages, housed in four 3-ring binders. The South America volume is well filled with countries ranging from Argentina to Venezuela and includes Cuba. The Asian volume contains a mix of both British Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries, both oceanic and mainland. Noted Brunei, Burma, India, Pakistan, China, Korea, Malaya and States, Thailand, Viet Nam, Singapore, PNG, Sarawak and more. The Africa volume contains Angola, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania, Liberia, Zanzibar, Zambia, Belgium Congo, Rwanda, Sudan and more. The Middle East volume contains UAR, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Syria, Turkey and more. Could be a decent find or two. Estimate = $200.00 $110.00
Worldwide - Souvenir sheets and multiples from across the globe, packed into 15 stockpages. Most appear to have been issued between 1938-1990, with the majority appearing to be mint Never Hinged, but with the odd used as well. Lots of European representation, including Monaco, Switzerland, with some Asian, Middle East and British Commonwealth. Lots of topical value here including sports, stamp on stamp, ships, space etc. Hundreds of stamps in total, with only a minor bit of duplication. The previous owner catalogued a portion of this lot several years ago at US$940.00 (by Scott). Take a good look at the scans to appreciate the quality and scope of this grouping. Estimate = $160.00 $140.00
Worldwide - Survivors of an album massacre! Starting with a large circa 1900 album that has had its covers and inner pages inelegantly removed, but has a few hundred stamps here that includes some Great Britain, German States, and other Europe. Next is a series of about a dozen soft-cover albums plus a small stockbook, plus a wooden cigar box (this contains mostly Indonesia). Finally, the remaining 1/3 of the box is random pages removed from various albums and holding a wide range of stamps, plus about two dozen "Vario" brand pages with 1980’s Israel (often in blocks or sheetlets. Thousands of stamps here, awaiting rescue. Estimate = $150.00 $85.00
Worldwide - The inventory of this bankers box includes 2 Harris albums "Senior Statesman" and "Ambassador", followed by three stockbooks of various sizes and brands. There are five assorted older small sized albums and a couple of inches of various album pages. The sleeper here may be the couple of inches of computer-generated album pages with various countries between "Cyprus" to "Dominica" with a number of decent looking stamps poking out here and there. A fun sort ahead for the enthusiastic collector. Estimate = $150.00 $100.00
Worldwide - Thousands upon thousands of stamps being both "on paper and off paper". The top thin layer is "102" cards and glassine envelopes. This lot is the last remnants from multiple boxes from a massive collection that we have been selling. Mostly pre-1980, some mint , but mostly used and a bit of duplication (not surprising). If there is any concentration, it would be Canada, Fiji and Mexico but we bet that over 75 countries are represented here. The indications are that this is not your ordinary mix, but rather the result of years of disorganization. For those who like to take their time when sorting their stamps. Estimate = $180.00 $130.00
Worldwide - Treasure box. A "Bergen Berries" box filled with lots of good stuff, high values, mint / used, souvenir sheets, old / modern, all off-paper and most sorted in glassines or #102 cards. A seemingly "cream of the crop" of only the best, and probably our best from one of our regular consignors. Total weight 2.75 lbs, with value throughout. Estimate = $180.00 $100.00
Worldwide - When we say that this is the holding of a "packet stamp lover", you might not be that intrigued, but this might not be what you expect. There is a significant holding of 1948-1949 mint Indonesia, including back of the book and overprints (these of Bileski origin), with the catalogue value being substantial and the condition excellent. There is also a good group of used Italy-Trieste "FTT" overprints, including a wide range of issues, both overprints. There is a batch of early Cuba in glassines, lots of loose stamps, "102" cards with individual stamp purchases and a few other packs containing "odds and ends". Your investment of time and organization will be rewarded. All contained within a bankers box. Estimate = $200.00 $120.00
Worldwide - Wine carton containing 18 lbs. of loose "on and off paper" (probably much more off-paper), mostly modern, which looks like it could hold good potential. Bottom of the box has a couple 1950's kids albums sparsely populated. Tens of thousands stamps in total, with seeming no Canadian material included. Estimate = $150.00 $80.00
Worldwide - With the opening line of "Two Ambassadors and a Statesman are put in a box" you might be expecting a punchline, but this U-Haul box is no joke. Includes three large Harris albums which are quite full, several smaller older albums, a couple of loose topical collections and topped off with a couple of bundles of "102" cards from a dealer stock make this the perfect lot for the avid philatelic hunter out there. This box is so tightly packed that in the space left by the smaller albums, we were able to slide in a wooden Whiskey box packed with modern bundle ware (mostly Canada and USA). Estimate = $160.00 $110.00
Worldwide - British America - A dizzying group of auction lots, collections, dealer purchases all bought and then set aside by and avid collector and now being offered as received. We haven’t touched them, so you are getting them the way they were acquired. Because they were never processed, this collector bought the same material again and again, so expect some duplication. In the pile we noticed Antigua (and some Barbuda), Montserrat, Belize, British Guiana, Falkland Islands, Caymans, Dominica, Turks and Caicos, Trinidad and Tobago, Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands (including the first QV set mint (the 5/- with a corner crease), Bermuda, Bahamas, Barbados and Anguilla. There are better sets and singles throughout, including some 1935 Silver Jubilees and more recent bird topicals. Extremely disorganized, but with significant value. Estimate = $325.00 $475.00
Worldwide - Latin America - A diverse stack of Central and South American material, that is both interesting and valuable, without having any real concentration or focus. Some auction lots here, extractions from albums and loose dealer cards. Includes Guatemala #C70-79, some attractive errors for the Dominican’s 1949 UPU issue, some decrepit envelopes with Mexican issue from the 1970’s (which look to have survived just fine). There are souvenir sheets here and there, including from Nicaragua and Uruguay, mounted collections of Guatemala / Nicaragua, a stockcard with classic Bolivia and a few multi-country pages and collections. Balance of a collection, as received. Estimate = $200.00 $180.00
Worldwide - Latin America - Bankers Box with two binders of computer-generated album pages (to about 1990 or later) for Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica and Cuba including "back of the book". Hundreds of stamps included, most identified by Scott, some in mounts. The rest of the box contains several inches of oversized pages with Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Haiti, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, Cuba, Peru, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and even a manila envelope filled with wads of Argentina revenues (heavy duplication). Overall thousands of stamps with lots of classics and coverage into the 1970’s and later. Always a popular collecting area. Estimate = $200.00 $60.00
Worldwide - Latin America - Big Bundle of Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Honduras, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela, Paraguay and Haiti. Includes albums, pages, stockpages, bidboard and other auction lots. Almost all were purchased by the previous owner, but never actually opened, just stowed away. Most of the material is 20th century, with a good mix of mint and used, including some useful souvenir sheets. The indications as we were sorting through this that the owner would have paid over $1000.00 for these lots back in the 1980’s-1990s. Estimate = $200.00 $85.00
Worldwide - Latin America - Mounted collections of Argentina, Peru, Honduras, Cuba and Chile, followed by additional single page items include the 25c Venezuela "Columbus" issue, with 36 mint copies and an intriguing lot of punched and overprinted "Specimen" stamps from Haiti 1920-1947. All are auction lots purchased by the consignor over a number of years, and then stowed away til now. Estimate = $160.00 $65.00
Worldwide Bird Topicals - Extensive "Bird" topical lot of over 1300 different stamps, organized by "family", e.g. herons, ducks, pigeons, hummingbirds, etc. in black mounts, most on quadrilled pages with a brief typed description of the bird. This style has precipitated breaking up sets, unless they all commemorate the same type of bird. A massive range of countries, mostly mint (presumably mostly Never Hinged) and some used. To maintain consistency, the collection is all housed in a "Cardinal" brand three-ring binder. Outstanding quality. Estimate = $180.00 $210.00
Worldwide Covers - Aviation / Airmail grouping of 73 covers, neatly arranged within a deluxe 3-ring Lighthouse brand album (with clear 2-line stockpages). A wide array of material, with strength in the US material, but with several other countries noted (including Iran, Tunesia, France, Japan, UK, Argentina, Finland, India etc). A mix of both commercial and philatelically inspired mail (mostly First Flight Covers). An interesting group. Estimate = $120.00 $34.00
Worldwide Covers - Aviation / Airmail themed small box containing over 300 covers / postcards, all with an aviation theme. Strength in USA / Switzerland material, the groups spans from the 1930's "heyday" of airmail right up to the 1990's and included flights, anniversaries, balloon mail, airplanes on stamps etc (and a small smattering of "other" material, mentioned for the record). A nice lot to sort through for the airmail collector, or to be broken apart for resale. Estimate = $150.00 $42.00
