Private Courier stamp HOARD. BC-based private courier service mint label hoard from the estate of the person who ran the operation. Starting in the early 1980s, during a postal strike, a local post service was setup to run international mail over to Port Angeles, WA for a fee, paid for by a label attached to the back flap, along with appropriate American postage. Based on its popularity with collectors, additional stamps were produced for the next decade. Locally printed, these stamps have significant variability in print quality, rouletting etc. After 40 years of handling and storage, the condition can be a bit mixed in place, but overall these are pretty nice. The counts are for complete sheets, although extra blocks and singles may be hiding. Saw Canadian Postal Strike Labels (sheetlets of 18) - the 50c (23 sheets), $1.00 (46 sheets), $1.85 rouletted edge (35), imperforate edge (28). The three small designs of the same issue in 34 sheets of 30 stamps. The BC Courier Service "Horse" issue in sheets of 25 (<1 oz (12), 1-3 oz (6), >3 oz (6)). 1983 "Fish" issue: 75c fully rouletted (7), imperforate ends (8), $4.50 (1) and the same issue overprinted "1985" - often with interleaving white paper 75c orange rouletted (3), imperforate edge (10), 75c pink (19), $1.50 (16), $4.50 (4). The BC Private Courier "Animal" issues include the 1984 75c (65), $1.50 (4). The 1988 series 75c orange (7), white (6), $1.50 green (34) white (4), $4.50 pink (28), white (1).The 1989 series 75c (40), $1.50 (29), $4.50 (35). These issues have been under-appreciated for their topical interest (fish, transportation, animals). A total of over 15,000 stamps on over 600 sheets!
