A lovely, mint Hinged array of the 1896 Matabele Rebellion Provisionals overprinted on Cape of Good Hope. This is a compete run from ½p to 1/, with extras and includes a very interesting horizontal shift on one ½p resulting in a split overprint (counted as regular in the cat. value). Cut off from postal authorities in Salisbury by the Rebellion, the Bulawayo post office ordered these overprints from the Cape, which it still had communication, to avoid running out of supply. They were used in Bulawayo during the uprising and then later elsewhere. The overprint plate had six different clichés; the consignor has not checked for these, but no doubt several clichés are present here. 12 stamps in total, generally Fine to Very Fine (with one rounded corner on one 4p noted for the record).
