Picture Postage: "Vi Milstead" Sheet Trio. Archival quality trio of mint sheets of Canada Post "Picture Postage" produced privately in 2009 in very limited quantities by the "Ninety-Nines" a Canadian aviatrix association, consisting of one 21 stamp pane (Type 1 design) and two 40 stamp panes. The subject of this custom produced group is Vi Milstead, the famous Canadian WWII female pilot, renowned as a ground-breaking flight instructor and ferry pilot (delivering new aircraft to the front lines). Canada Post finally got around to producing their own official Milstead commemorative stamp in 2022 (Unitrade #3356). Needless to say, these Picture Postage "forerunners" are exceedingly rare and as the whole area of custom postage collecting is gaining popularity, these sheets should be an excellent investment (particularly with their connection to a government issued stamp). The lot includes a bio of Milstead from the "Ninety-Nines" website. Note also that individual used generic Picture Postage stamps often sell for up to $10.00 each on eBay.
