Ship Cancellation / Special Event cover palooza. A small box, packed with 474 covers from the mid-1960's, with each cover receiving a ship cancel or special event illustrated cachet (and often both). This time period represented philatelic goldmine for postmark collectors, who could often submit a self-addressed stamped envelope by mail to receive a commemorative postmark from the ship or event. These covers were all created by a collector in British Columbia, self-addressing these envelopes to receive the postmarks. While there are too many to list, some of the covers commemorate…. Apollo 7 US Navy Recovery Ship (USS Nicholas), USS Albert David commissioning, USS Wasp (Project Gemini recovery force), launching of nuclear submarine "Haddock" etc. Hours of fun will be had researching these items!
