Volume 11 Germany 2/1408, B1/B602, C1/C61. Massive, thought-provoking and extensive collection of 3800 mint and used stamps from 1872 up to 1983. Starts with a good run of early "Eagle" issues followed by a significant amount of Germania issues, including lots of "socked-on-the-nose" cancels and a few perfins. The inflation period is mostly mint and the Third Reich period often has both mint and used examples. The post-war period is more used than mint, in which we noted the semi-postals are a bit "hit or miss" but includes better sets (noted a complete 1936 Berlin Olympics booklet, and two used sets of the B141-B143 overprinted "Auto Race" issue). The lot concludes with a bit of airmail material - which includes a Hindenburg cover. Where there is duplication, it is usually because there is both a mint and used example of a stamp, or that there are nice cancels, or a multiple (including margin copies). Additionally, there are a small number of booklet panes or souvenir sheets and every few pages there is a cover that really complements this collection. Given the size and age of the material, expect the occasional fault, but overall, the stamps appear to be in decent condition, with eye-catching items everywhere you look. Estimate =
