Mourning covers. Hoard of 92 covers from 1849-1965, showing almost every possible configuration of envelope (with differing widths of black borders or flap edging). Lots of Small Queens and Admirals with potential cancel interest, some usages to the UK (including one postage due) and even a 2c RLS (registration stamp usage). Several contain the original letters or death notices, which are always sought after by mourning cover collectors. As these are among the least philatelic forms of postal history, the condition is a bit mixed. However, there are still a few philatelically inspired covers, including for the death of King George V, the last day of the colony of Newfoundland and the last flight of Prairie airmail service. Includes RPSC article by Arfken on the subject of mourning covers. A very difficult to duplicate lot. Estimate =
