Machin Self-Adhesives. An unusual and seldom seen offering of the original 1974 "Post Office produced" self-adhesive QEII "Machin" series (9), plus the 4 souvenir sheets issued 3 years later in 1977. While these were not official postage "stamp" issues, but rather the brainchild of two philatelic entrepreneurs (Derek Worboys / John Daynes) who submitted orders on self-adhesive paper to "Her Majesty's Stationery Office" which would provide privately ordered Postal Stationery. While not acknowledged in either Gibbons or Scott catalogues, there are several printed references included with the lot which pieces together this interesting puzzle (including a stamp dealer offering of these in 1974 for £225.00!!). One of the rarities of the QEII period, mentioned in several online community forums, but we were not able to find a set offered for sale anywhere. Estimate =
