Germany Covers - Accumulation of over 130 commercial and philatelically inspired covers, mostly sent to Canada between 1977-1980. Besides the attractive use of stamps, including sets and souvenir sheets neatly hand cancelled, a number were sent by "value added" services, such as airmail, registration and special delivery, which increases the complexity of the rates covered. There are also a couple larger pieces not counted. A few have original letters inside. As over 40 years have passed since these were sent, there is more appreciation among collectors looking to exhibit rates from the period. Estimate = $150.00

Germany, States, Berlin, Occupation issues, Colonies #4/1054, B3/B471. Pre-1975 collection of almost everything (West) German in older Lighthouse springback binder, in decent condition. Starts with a mixed page of 17 German States issues (with some Bavaria later on in the album), and transitions quickly to a German Reich "sampler" group before settling down to a solid post-WWI grouping of mint and used, with lots of "hyper-inflation" and Third Reich material, with a good offering of post-war issues, including most of the good semi-postals (with set catalogue values up to $100.00), and mostly mint from the 1960’s onwards. The Berlin includes some overprints, some nice mint and used "Bells". Other occupied areas include Baden, Reinland-Pfalz, Wurttemberg, with a smattering of Colonial and Occupied issues and various issues from Saar (under various administrations). Great Britain #5. Fresh used example of the 1sh Queen Victoria issue of 1847 with as big margins on three sides as you are likely to find, which also shows the uneven placement of the stamps which made clean separation so difficult. Just a little close at the top and the four corners completely intact. Has "66" numeral cancel (Berwick). A beauty! 2024 Scott US$1000.00 = $1,350.00
History

261
Great Britain #33. No, you aren’t seeing double. Perfect for a plate study or for sheet reconstruction. As a bonus each set of pages has a few "Tuppence blue" stamps with plate numbers. About 260 stamps in total. Substantial catalogue value. Estimate = $220.00

Has a private perfin and a "Throgmorton Avenue EC" (??) oval registration "2 Jan 1885" dated cancel. There is a small thin and minor staining on the back. A very attractive key Victorian issue. 2024 Scott US$3500.00 = $4,725.00
History

264
Great Britain - A pair of red, older, small format, stockbooks with a chaotic mixture of mostly used Victorian-era material, with a bit up to King George VI. Both look like they were used for organizing a collection or storing duplicates, during the 1970s, when this material catalogued significantly less. During that time, material was added, removed, and moved around. Sometimes with notations, often not. Overall, we see a few hundred stamps with substantial catalogue value that seem to be in reasonable condition, with lots of potential for studies of different printings and cancels. An "old school" lot. Estimate = $240.00
History

265
Great Britain - An astronomical value holding of 360 stamps within 27 retired APS (American Philatelic Society) circuit books. Stamps are predominantly used, with some of the books having been well picked, others barely touched, with "remaining value" being mostly in the $200.00 to $450.00 range per book (US Dollars). A wealth of Queen Victoria / Edward / George V used issued with MANY "schilling values", "seahorses" and high-values throughout. The remaining value (as retail) in these books adds up to an impressive $7500+, which when you consider that the stamps are generally priced at 20% of catalogue value, giving a potential catalogue value of over $37,000 (by 2006 Scott!!). A very nice opportunity for any collector looking to increase their holdings, or show / club / internet dealers looking to make a major addition to their stock. Estimate = $1,000.00
History

266
Great Britain - Complete run of the 1990-2019 "LX" prefix Christmas Greeting booklets (as listed in Gibbons), neatly arranged within a padded Stanley Gibbons album (plus some extras). The total face value alone is £562.82 ($1008.95 CDN). This amount will go up as well, with the upcoming UK postal rate increase. 2024 SG Concise catalogue value £925.00 = $1,658.25

Canada Cancels - Unbelievable hoard of 1977-1983 medium to high value used, hand cancelled, plate blocks on piece, from an extensive correspondence between a stamp collector in Edmonton and a friend in Poland. From what we can tell, every couple of weeks, he would send a good sized parcel by registered mail, franked with 50c-$5.00 plate blocks (lots of National Parks issues), many in matched sets and hand cancelled (mostly with an Edmonton Sub 58 POCON cancel). The plate blocks were cut from the parcels and dutifully returned to the collector who mounted them chronologically in page protectors. Clean, fresh and attractive. We roughly counted 400 plate blocks. Some of the larger pieces include shipping information which could make it possible to figure out which rate they paid. A study opportunity that doesn’t come up often (or ever)! Estimate =

Canada Covers - "The Story of Canada" First Day Covers with Matching Mint Stamps. Very expensive "by subscription" collection of specially prepared deluxe First Day Covers in four volumes. This "The Story of Canada" collection consists of 84 different gold foil cacheted FDCs, all mounted on a full colour illustrated page with a story on the event being commemorated, along with a VF mint NH Canadian (or Newfoundland) stamp also associated with the event. Not quite a complete run of all the covers, as many of the subscribers ended the acquisition of these pricey items ($9.95 each for an original cost for this lot of $835.80) as the cost became excessive. Still a great collection for the fan of Canadian history and scarce cachet types for the FDC cachet collector. Estimate =

Canada Covers - Alberta cancel mini-hoard in a bankers box. The results of at least three collectors who collaborated to obtain hand cancels from every post office and (more importantly) sub-post office in the province. A very successful partnership that involved research, patience and a substantial financial commitment. Many of these cancels will likely only exist because of their work. This was the balance of one of the collector’s stamp room, and has no indication of any order. A banker’s box is filled with philatelic, favour, personal and commercial covers (plus a number of cut-down covers and large pieces), of both #8 and #10 sized mostly from 1990-2022, but with scattered items back to the 1950’s. Expect some minor duplication amongst the approximately 1700 covers. It cost a small fortune to acquire, and it will take a larger fortune if you try to repeat this venture. A bargain at the estimated value. Estimate =

There is a good batch of commercial and philatelically created covers with 6 digit rectangular or round cancels, plus a number of pictorial CDS cancels from the early 2000s. Strength is in the modern covers with many short-lived rubber stamp cancels on #8 envelopes. Over 280 covers in total. Estimate =
