Canada Covers - Modern cancel hunt filling a pair of envelope boxes with the results of a circa 2008-2009 mail out to Post Offices across the country with a self-addressed stamp envelope requesting the post office to return it with a hand cancellation from that Post Office. This effort resulted in several hundred #10 covers from "rural" post offices, mostly franked with commemoratives or Christmas issues struck with 6-digit POCON/HRIS or "Wing" cancels, or the "Pictorial" CDS cancels that were popular at the time. We didn’t see any Quebec or Northwest Territories, but there is lots of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland-Labrador and Ontario, with about a half box from the Western Provinces. Postmasters sometimes included notes about the post office, or the closure dates for Post Offices. These get to be a more and more expensive proposition each year, so take advantage of this 15 year-old effort. Estimate = $200.00
History

152
Canada Covers - Not your usual group of philatelically-inspired covers and FDCs. Between 1971 and 1984, this Edmonton-area collector/dealer created about 300 covers with no cachets, but used value added services (typically registration or Special Delivery). When he mounted the covers in four 3-ring binders, he added a number of brochures, posters or the inserts that came when buying complete panes. The covers are #10 sized or bigger and used the contemporary stamp(s) along with some older issues to make up the rate. The covers usually had post office labels added, typically for the service and/or a "1st Class" or "Fragile" label. The items were sent from a range of post offices, with hand cancels, so a number of cancels await the postmark collector (including a few MOON cancels). Estimate = $180.00

Canada Covers - Picture Postcard Literature. A seldom seen holding of literature relating to BC (and at times Alberta) picture postcards. Topics include "Harmon Postcards" (three different publication by Earle Covert), Valentine Postcards of Western Canada, BC Printing & Litho Postcards, Fred Spalding's Camera Products Company, Postcards of BC by Valentine, Photos by Leonard Frank, BC in the decade of the 1950's (JC Walker postcards), Biographies of BC Postcard Photographers and British Columbia Historical Postcards Guide to Publishers. A total of 11 publications. Tough to find as these were usually only done in small print runs. Estimate = $140.00
History

154
Canada Covers - Postal Stationery Holding. Large accumulation of Canada postal stationery filling a bankers box, ranging from the Victorian to the modern era, noting a wide variety of items including postal cards, reply cards, wrappers, postage paid cards (roughly 50), uncut sheets, envelopes, and more. Face value totals at least $120 counting modern envelopes only ranging 30c to 45c each. Some of the early items catalogue in the $3 to $5 range. Nice lot with good possibilities, overall very fine. Estimate = $150.00
History

155
Canada Covers - SASK Saskatchewan Postal History. Town postmark holding of 232 covers (and a few postcards), arranged alphabetically A-Z and seemingly all different by either town or postmark type. Most are favor covers, send "under-cover" to these Post Offices (many rural) to obtain the postmark and are dated from the 1970's to 1990's. Often these "favor" cancels were the only way to obtain a good showing of town postmarks. Estimate = $120.00
History

156
Canada Covers - Shoebox filled with a couple hundred Canadian covers, with clean emphasis on QEII era Postal Stationery (noted CN Express "flimsies" and "Meteorological Return" envelopes), plus a flurry of Post Office covers, Free Frank envelopes, Certified Mail and "G" / "OHMS" officials. An interesting mix, from a local estate. Estimate = $150.00

157
Canada Covers - Slogan Cancel, George V Admiral Holding. A well above-average offering of 24 covers and 17 pieces / cut squares, all featuring slogan postmarks from Eastern Canada. All are sleeved and identified with Coutt's catalogue numbers and catalogue value, with additional notations (such as Die number). Catalogue values up to $60.00! Total Coutt's catalogue value adds up to $1031.00. Estimate = $150.00
History

158
Canada Covers - U-Haul box packed with Alberta Health Services return envelopes from the 6c era (1969-1970), mostly non-standard sized envelopes used with commemoratives. As you would expect, most are used from Alberta, with many small town cancels seen. There is also an indication that the person who pulled these envelopes was interested in paper types, so a UV-lamp may help with your exploration. Approximately 1500 covers, lots of duplication amongst the stamps, some amongst the post office cancels. Untouched for over 50 years! Estimate = $150.00
History

159
Canada Covers - Western Canada cancel stash in different forms from different sources. BC is covered with a shoebox of around 500 #8 covers back to the KEVII era, but mostly early Elizabethan (could be some interesting corner cards). Alberta has two small binders, one with "R" towns the other from "T" towns on stamp, piece and cover. Saskatchewan towns of "D" to "O" post offices are sorted in unused Canada First Day cachet covers, and a mounted collection of "A" to "E" towns. There is a small but clean collection of Manitoba collections. The rest of Canada is included in the balance which are examples from the 1934 "Cartier", the "War" and the 1949 "Cabot/Newfoundland" issues. Estimate = $180.00

Canada Precancels - Collection / Accumulation of QV to QEII Precancels. A 16-page Linder brand "alligator" stockbook, plus an additional group of 20 stockpages containing approximately 2300 stamps including 48x 1c Small Queens. Duplicated (as to be expected), but not checked for constant varieties. These stamps originally came from a collection in the Netherlands, likely the first time many of these have been repatriated in some time. Owner's estimated precancel catalogue value = $1,600.00
History

Canadian Provinces - British Columbia #17. Sound and Fine used example of the 1869 issue 50 CENTS surcharge on 3p violet "Seal of BC", perf 12½ x 12½. Clear "35" numeral cancel (Victoria). A couple short perfs, but a rare pre-Confederation classic in much nicer than usual condition. 2024 Scott US$1000.00 = $1,350.00
History

162
Canadian Provinces - British Columbia #18. Fine appearing, but faulty used example of the 1869 issue "1 DOLLAR 1" surcharge on 3p green Seal of BC, perf 12½ x 12½, with light unobtrusive grid cancel in black. Watermark Crown and CC. Sealed tear at left and a few perf faults, but still a very presentable spacefiller example of this pre-Confederation colonial rarity. 2024 Scott US$1,750.00 = $2,362.50
History

163
Canadian Provinces - British Columbia - A seldom offered "batch" of British Columbia stamps, including #2 (two unused, no gum examples), #5 (unused, no gum), #6 (two used examples), #7 (four used examples), #8 (three unused, no gum), #9 (used) and #11 (two unused, one used). Overall condition is average for this period, with several small perf faults or rounded corners. A great study group to keep what you need and sell / trade the remainder. Estimate = $250.00
History

164
Canadian Provinces - New Brunswick #1, 1a. F/VF appearing duo of shades of the first 3p red "Crown and Heraldic Flowers" issue of New Brunswick. The red shade has over 2 wide margins and two which are close (but still mostly clear) and has a full, but light dotted-grid cancel. The dark red shade has four clear margins (just a little close on one side) with an oval cancel (numeral is off the stamp). Both have thins, but are are nonetheless attractive copies. 2024 Scott US$1200.00 = $1,620.00

History

167
Canadian Provinces - Nova Scotia #5. Lovely used example of the 6d dark green "Crown and Heraldic Flowers" on blue paper, from 1857. With four large, even margins and a light grid cancel. The only downside is a hinge thin, which does not take away from the eye appeal of this beautiful classic, which will look good in any album at a fraction of a fault-free example. 2024 Scott US$2750.00 = $3,712.50

Cape of Good Hope/Natal #3, 5b, 31b. Trio of Southern African colony issues. Starts with two Cape triangles, a 1p red (with a partial numeral cancel) and a 6d grayish-lilac on blue paper (heavy cancel), both with usual minor faults and mixed margins. The lot concludes with a used example of the 3p blue of Natal with the first "Postage." overprint, a fine example. Total 2024 Scott US$927.50 = $1,252.13

Ceylon and Maldive Islands - One man’s accumulation that was the result of lots of purchasing, and not much organizing. The Ceylon is often on various album pages, but there are some intriguing envelopes, glassine and stockcards of unsorted material. Much is pre-Sri Lanka, but some issues circa 2000 are seen. The Maldives have some of the earlier mint issues followed by a long break and then resume with some 1990s "topical-rich" issues such as Marilyn, Elvis, etc. Estimate = $170.00
History

171
China #56, 70. Used duo of 1897 surcharge issues, including the 1/2c on 3c orange yellow and 10c on 9c green. Both with minor perf faults, but also tidy CDS postmarks. 2024 Scott US$460.00 = $621.00

172
China - A new source, and a one-time opportunity, for one of these popular lots of Chinese miscellany. In this small bundle we note a mint souvenir sheet of the 1941 "Reconstruction" issue and a battered version of the 1944 "Refugees" semi-postal. There are two different sets of local overprints on the 1933 "Tan Yuan-chang" issues, plus some China, PRC and the start of a Manchukuo mounted collection (with some dealer duplicates). Enjoy the search! Estimate = $200.00

Both books wonderfully and immensely illustrated in full colour, published by the Directorate General of Posts, Republic of China. Examples we could find online were priced at US$200.00 (Revenue Surcharges) and US$125.00 (Republic of China) respectively. Estimate = $150.00

Cyprus #3/179. Fifty-five mint Queen Victoria to King George V beauties mounted on five album pages, mostly "Keyplate" designs but with 4 values from the "50th Anniversary" set, and most of the 1934 commemorative set (just missing a couple cheaper values) finishing with a nice set of the 1935 Silver Jubilee set. Fresh appearance, and mostly lightly hinged. Total 2024 Scott US$776.05 = $1,047.67

175
Cyprus #3/569. Substantial mounted "first century" collection of used issues ranging from early Queen Victoria to the 1981 Royal Wedding. Starts with a complete set of the 1882 and most of the 1894 definitives, with a nice copy of "1/2d" revalued #26a. There is a good range of King Edward VII to King George V definitives and the commemorative issues from KGV to early QEII are just missing the occasional higher value. The last quarter century is a bit hit or miss, with no souvenir sheets. With an additional page of higher value KGV issues used (and priced) as revenues. Everything here post-1960 was not included in the total catalogue value. Total 2024 Scott US$1041.95 = $1,406.63

176
Cyprus #10. Great Britain 1p "Penny Red" with "Cyprus" overprint, subsequently revalued with a 13mm "Half-Penny" overprint. From the scarce plate 205, position "F-Q". Fresh and with typical centering. The gum has its usual crackling, and there is some significant album offset and adhesion to the back. One of the key Victorian-era issues of this popular Mediterranean British colony. 2024 Scott US$425.00 = $573.75
History

177
Cyprus #48-59. Stunning complete mint lightly hinged King Edward VII definitive set of 12 issued between 1904 to 1907. Each copy is lovely and fresh, with the exception of the 6pi value has some creasing and a damaged lower perf (as such, not counted in the total catalogue value). 2024 Scott US$378.25 = $510.64

Cyprus - Collection and accumulations. Sorted / Unsorted, Mint / Used, Singles / Sets. The balance of a fine estate, with several sets of album pages (including two partial sets of Scott International pages in an older green 2-post binder). It’s hard to tell what is here because of the disorganization but noted lots of "Keyplate" issues from QV-KGV, some early Europa common design issues and lots of 20th century material up to about year 1998. The mint is mostly hinged. Could be some better cancels amongst the used. Expect light to moderate duplication. A bonus item is a 32-page green Uni-Safe stockbook lightly populated with used QEII, perfect to help sort this all out. Estimate = $180.00

Czechoslovakia #1754/3187. Small shoebox filled with #8 sized envelopes with singles, sets and wholesale quantities of mostly used, but also some mint material issued between 1971 and 2001. There is also a small handful of about 45 souvenir and mini-sheets, both mint and used, most from the 1980s (most catalogue $4.00-$12.00, each) but noted #3517 with text for a philatelic show (catalogues $30.00). We don’t see many Czech lots of this type. Estimate = $140.00

Danish West Indies #1/30. Part 1: A homemade quadrilled dealer page with 19 mint and used DWI issues, including different printings. Identified by Scott numbers (but priced in 1977!) and with a touch of duplication, we noted #1 used, #2 mint, #11 used, #30 used (lovely "St Thomas" cancel). Where there is a lack of clarity with the Scott sub-number, we have taken the lower price. A few minor faults are to be expected. Total 2024 Scott US$949.35 = $1,281.62

Denmark #2/219 plus Back of the Book. A compact, yet powerful selection of 130 mint and (mostly) used stamps 1851-1930, including "back of the book" issues, neatly arranged and identified on 3 stockpages. What starts off as a showing of many of the early issues up to 1930, then shifts to the "back of the book" with Postage Dues, Semi-Postals, Airmails. Officials, Parcel Post and Newspaper Stamps. While there will be the odd faulty, overall a very clean group. Expect the mint to be hinged. Denmark #25/219, Q12-Q14. A stockpage with stamps from 4 different issues. Nine of the ten values from the first "Ore" definitives are quite nice (the 20o is missing and the 25o has a small tear and is not counted). The Christian X set appears quite nice, but most have hinge remnants and most of the gum is quite thin or missing (set not counted). The trio of parcel post overprints are a fresh, hinged set. The only used set is the first "GPO, Copenhagen" issue, perf 13 with a couple of nice overlapping cancels. Total 2024 Scott US$627.00 = $846.45

One of the albums is an old Minkus binder with "UAR" on the cover and also includes pages for Syria (only a few stamps though). Estimate = $150.00

Mint Never Hinged imperforate pair of the 65c "Black Walnut" tree definitive of 1991, with nice even margins, but alas, a miscut has resulted in a 15mm horizontal cut into the top stamp (starts between "Wal" and "nut"). Still an attractive example of one of the harder to find errors from this period. 2024 Unitrade =

Canada #2479-2482. Complete mint Never Hinged set of 4 complete panes of 16 stamps for each of 2011 "Canadian Recording Artists" series of 4 stamps. We seldom see these panes, as only 160,000 were printed of each as compared to more often seen souvenir sheet or booklets panes, which had 1,105,000 issued combined. Overlooked by many at the time of issue, these complete panes now listed in the Unitrade catalogue and are quite hard to find 13+ years past issue date. 2024 Unitrade =

Canada #BK9b. A scarce, complete, 1922 Admiral booklet with a pane of four and two tabs for the 1c yellow and 3c brown plus a pane of 6 of the 2c green. The booklet covers are blue with dark blue tape. The stamps are in good shape, but the covers have some faults including a bit of peeling of the tape, an erased notation on the front and a small tear to the back cover. The staple is oxidized and barely holding the booklet together. Still, not many of these were produced and few survive to this date. 2024 Unitrade =

Canada #BK29/BK39. Selection of 13 different George VI (Mufti / War Issue) complete booklets, neatly arranged on a double-sided stocksheet by the consignor. A nice mix of English / French / Bilingual printed, with variety in rate pages as well. While all booklets in this period are generally "better", this group includes one of the tougher to find booklets (BK29c,French, catalogue $140.00). Some minor bumping, rust on staples and pencil marks (could be removed) as often found on these issues. Centering of the panes as varied, but these were counted as basic catalogue values, with no premium for well centered or clean covers. 2024 Unitrade =

Slightly duplicated, but almost all the mint are Never Hinged (with the exception of one of the CL52 examples), with the bottom row being used.
